American Idol star Jon Peter Lewis to perform for BYU-Idaho


REXBURG, Idaho

American Idol star and former Brigham Young University-Idaho student Jon Peter Lewis will perform at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg Saturday, April 9.

Lewis will be the featured act for the annual student Cabaret that features dinner, entertainment and dancing.

The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. in the Manwaring Center with entertainment provided by Jon Peter Lewis beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium. Following an hour-long show by Lewis, the BYU-Idaho big band Sound Alliance will provide dance music. The BYU-Idaho Ballroom Dancers will also perform floor shows during the evening.

Semi-formal dress is suggested. The cost for the dinner, show and dance is $30 per couple. The show and dance is $15 per couple or $8 for singles. Tickets are available at the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office or by calling 496-2230.

Lewis began singing at a young age and has always enjoyed performing. While at BYU-Idaho, he performed as Joseph in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at the Playmill Theater in West Yellowstone during the summer of 2003.

After auditioning in Honolulu for American Idol 3 in 2004, Lewis began his national career. He became a contestant on the popular television show and has been touring and creating a name for himself throughout the nation.

Lewis is currently living in Los Angeles writing and recording songs. He is working on putting a band together and recording an album that will be released this summer. A single is available on his website jplewismusic.com.

Today they were giving away tickets on KLCE. I heard it once as I was driving in my car, no cell phone with me dang it, then about an hour later I was running my 7 miles with my armband radio, when I heard them giving away ANOTHER pair of tickets, again no cell phone with me. So I listened the rest of the afternoon, and they never gave any more away. Darn the luck! But they are interviewing him tomorrow morning at 8:40 on KLCE and giving away another pair of tickets then. Too bad I didn't check this earlier to find out he was on channel 3 tonight...I usually don't watch that channel.

hey Lewis Pen. Are you coming to the concert even if you don't win tickets? You don't have to say so if you don't want to, but if you let us know what you are doing for sure, we can include you in our planning, such as it is. Thanks for letting us know what is going on in the news there. You run 7 miles! That is terrific!
