I don't see a thread on this topic and I've seen us wander off topic to this subject in others. So, let's talk about his voice....what you like about it, which songs you thought showcased it, what kinds of songs you would like to hear him sing in the future.
What I personally want to hear Jon sing are some really rockin' songs, something where he can really put a lot of passion into (like perhaps HIS NEW SONGS!!!)
I love Jon's voice cause it is so unique, an has so many different qualities to it. He has a crisp clear voice at times and yet he has a strong "raspy" quality to his voice, among other qualities.
Also, I think that "Tiny Dancer" and "She Believes in Me" were the two songs showed off his voice the best. And, in the future, I would like to hear Jon sing some acoustic and/or acappella song, because I think those kind of songs will showcase Jon's unique voice the best!
Basicaly, like I've said all along, Jon's voice is so unique and refreshing that is it like a breath of fresh air to the stale and somewhat predictable music indurstry.
I think his voice sounded best on Drift Away and TOHOM. I would love to hear some mid-tempo songs with a lot of range to them... also like rocker Jon voice though too!
I would like to hear him sing show tunes, especially Andrew Lloyd Webber. If he would replay his role in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," that would be well worth seeing. I know I might be in the minority, but I prefer a powerful, dramatic song that would show off Jon's vibrato. At least the kind of rock songs Jon seems to like are not mindless ones. Well, except for all that Elvis stuff, but pure fun is okay too from time to time.
**************************** A voice, a chime, a chant sublime, of peace on earth, good will to men.

I would love to hear more acoustic as well. His voice is perfect for it. I loved your last statement. You couldn't have put it better luvs! We need fresh air in this very stale music industry and not only does he have the voice and musical ability, but from what I hear, he can also write great songs. I think that's the true mark of an artist.

Count me in the minority then too! I love show tunes and I think Jon's beautiful voice and the passion he puts in his singing would make them come alive! I also find myself thinking he'd sound great doing something like Howie Day or from further back...Duncan Sheik (not sure why but Jon keeps reminding me of him..)
I want to hear Crazy Love in it's entirety. I think Jon has the perfect voice for lyrical rock music/ballads. And I love songs where he shows off that fabulous range. Waiting........

I agree, being able to sing, play insturments and write music, is the mark of a ture artist.
Oh I love Jon's voice! The tone, the pitch, everything! It's incredible! I think on AI he did really well on Rocket Man, it just seemed to fit his vocal abilities really well. And also on the AI CD when he sang My Girl I thought he did awesome!
I think Jon has a beautiful, unique quality to his voice. The tone and pitch are very good and he has the kind of voice that is very appealing and keeps you wanting more.
I loved his performances on AI and think they each showcased a different dimension to his ability. He was terrific in Idaho Falls and I look forward to my next opportunity to see him perform live. I will definately purchase his CD as soon as it's available.
I think Jon has a very rich and soulful voice. He can be a lot of fun when he rocks out with a catchy upbeat song, but when he sings a romantic ballad or any slower song, he really touches the emotions with his innocence and wholesome spirit. He's a big kid at heart, which is why he appeals to me because I am too.
As I am someone who is generally more of a fan of the female voice, it is a true testament to his personality and talent that he has impressed me as much as he has. I mean there are a lot of talented male singers out there, but Jon has something special that caught my interest - a certain magical quality.
Jon has a very seductive singing voice. That's it in a nutshell for me. The way he sells a song is just so...uh, well, passionate, I guess, and real. I guess it's a combo of the masculine tone of his voice and his personal style which colors everything he sings and makes it uniquely Jon. He even makes falsettos seem manly. Thanks to Jon and the Maroon 5 dude, I have new appreciation for the falsetto.

That is an excellent description, BP! You described Jon's voice perfectly!
I love his voice so much. On slow songs like She Believes in Me, it's so soothing. I've never heard a voice like his. I mean, Diana is good but she sounds like a bunch of other singers out there. JMO.
