There are lots of thanks floating around right now in connection to Jon's concert. But I would be most remiss if I did not thank Brigham Young University--Idaho and everyone who put any effort or thought into making the concert a marvelous experience for me and the others who attended. First of all, I need to thank Don Sparhawk, who early on answered my questions about who could attend and about the format of the show, etc. and who later on was very helpful in making sure that the show got publicity and in working with Jon's publicist. Thanks go out to Jon's publicist too for promoting the show. The area media was great to interview Jon and publicize the concert--thanks to them too. Doug Smith, who was over the dance, also answered many of my questions as I was trying clarify the details of the event. Also, Kristen (I hope I got that name right) and the other student who made the opening announcements were very accomodating.
Thanks and big congratulations also go out to the sound and lighting people. The show was very professionally done. They had cool flashing lights and smoke that added a great deal to the atmosphere of the concert. And the sound was perfect! Some of you may remember me griping that at the Columbus AI concert the sound was horrible. When you go to a concert, sound is the most important thing, yet that venue somehow mananged to let Jasmine's mic go out for a whole song and then Jon's mic to go out when he was trying to thank people. In general, the sound in Columbus was much more scratchy and detracted from the music. So perhaps the greatest compliment I can give the sound people at BYU--Idaho is that nobody noticed them! They did their job so well that the audience could focus on the music. Also, the volume was just right and didn't make me want to plug my ears, even though I was right up front. Every note came through with perfect clarity and tone. The sound set up really was flawless and impressive.
Lots of other people were helpful in many ways--from the fun clerks at the Cottontree Hotel to restaurant workers to the people taking tickets. I had a great time and am grateful to everyone who contributed to that.
