10/31/06: Jon's New Christmas Song..."California Christmas"!!
A new song recorded by Jon will be featured in the upcoming Christmas Compilation album "Breaking For the Holidays". The album, set to be released this season, includes artists Chaka Khan, The Demolition String Band, Vonzell Solomon, Ben Jelen, Sandra Bernhard, Jill Goia, and more!
Chuck Taylor of Billboard Magazine calls "California Christmas," an instant classic which conjures Beach Boys meets Phil Spector." The fun, upbeat, and harmony-packed track was written by Sky Elobar and produced by Ayhan Sahin of Breaking Records. The album is currently available for pre-order through Breaking Records, and will be available online for the holidays.
Awesome! Another JPL Christmas song! Maybe someday Jon will release a special Christmas CD featuring lots of his original Christmas songs!
I just received my copy of Bette Midler's Christmas album Cool Yule, and am awaiting one by Amy Grant called Hallmark Presents The Spirit Of Christmas, and it's never too early to listen to Christmas music! I do it all year round!
Hooray! I can't wait to hear the new tune. The link says this is a pre-order. I wonder when it will be available.....anyone? I usually don't like listening to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving, but I might be willing to make an exception in this case.
This is great! I look forward to the new Christmas song!

Can't wait to hear this new Christmas song! Makes me want to go play Jon's "It's Christmas!" I'm impressed that Chuck Taylor called this song an 'instant classic.' He's usually tough on Idol performers let me tell or 'reality' stars in general large. I find it VERY impressive that Billboards' Chuck Taylor like this song and gave it such a glowing review. Boy, can't he get grumpy (and ugly sometimes, with his reviews.) Was this in the print version or online. I read Billboard all the time and would like to read this review for myself! Go Jon Peter! I just know Jon's album will get reviewed in this magazine and can't wait to see what they say about it (I hope Chuck Taylor does this review, since he liked Jon' Christmas single so well!) There's no such thing as bad publicity in this business. Jon's album deserves to be reviewed by every major publication there is! It a Super Great Album! And I haven't even heard all of it yet! But hey, Jon's singing on it-how could it go wrong?
Hooray! Yet another new song! This will be a Merry Christmas season indeed.
Since I always have to dig to the bottom of anything, I started to dig on Phil Spector. I already know enough about the Beach Boys to know what that reference is all about! I think Chuck Taylor must have been talking about Spector's Wall of Sound technique. Now, I am very, very eager to hear what Jon's song might sound like. I am intrigued. Here are some of the most interesting quotes from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Spector:
"Later he [Spector] worked with varied artists, including The Beatles and the Ramones" [OOoooooo Beatles]
"Spector's trademark during that era was the so-called Wall of Sound, a production technique yielding a dense, layered effect that was carried well on AM radio and jukeboxes. To attain this signature sound, Spector gathered large groups of musicians (playing some instruments not generally used for ensemble playing, such as electric and acoustic guitars) playing orchestrated parts — often using many instruments playing in unison — for a fuller sound. Spector himself called his technique 'a Wagnerian approach to rock & roll: little symphonies for the kids.'"
"In 1970, Allen Klein, manager of the Beatles, brought Spector to England. After producing John Lennon's solo single "Instant Karma," which went to #3, Spector was invited by Lennon and George Harrison to take on the task of turning the tapes from the abandoned "Get Back" recording sessions into a usable album. Spector went to work using many of his production techniques to significantly change the sound of the songs. The resulting album, Let It Be, was a massive commercial sucess and yielded a #1 single, 'The Long and Winding Road.'"
