The AOL version of the "It's Christmas" video is different from the downloadable version. Go to
http://television.aol.com/americanidol then scroll down to where you see Jon's old AI photo. I am not sure how much is different, but when I finally got around to watching it, I noticed that especially the first part seemed different. It seemed that Jon looked at the camera more and that there are more closeups with a better angle on his face. Plus, he doesn't talk in the middle of the song. Although I love his message to fans and I think that was very important for him to say thanks to everyone, in this version we get to see and hear that missing part of the song. My very favorite new part is where he sings, "We can see all the crazy friends we used to know." He raises his eyebrows there in a dramatic way, and I smiled over the amused look on his face. Maybe he just thinks that line is humorous, but the look on his face just then does convey the fun he would have with his crazy friends and the girl.
I think that some parts are still the same, so maybe this is an excellent job of splicing together some of the best takes. When I first saw the announcement about this video on community news, I didn't bother to go watch since I figured it was the same video. Then BigNLiddle pointed out on another thread today that Jon was on the corner of the page on aol, so of course I went to look. Thanks so much BigNLiddle! Once there, you see this nice blurb about Jon:
"We heart JPL! But was his experience a blessing or a curse? Former 'Idol' contestant Jon Peter Lewis talks about life after the show and sings us a little ditty."
I am so pleased about the first sentence of that. It is worth repeating:
We heart JPL! We heart JPL! We heart JPL!
We heart JPL! We heart JPL! We heart JPL!
It is so great to see Jon get the good press he deserves here and in Entertainment Weekly. So go watch this video and put it onto your aol playlist. Then write to aol to let them know you liked it. If people write, we are more likely to get more good Jon stuff. On another thread, Iris points us to the place to write--gracias Iris! So contact
SuperTVgirl@aol.com and tell her thanks. I don't know the person or people who have been making these videos or I would point you to the proper place to write for that, but huge thanks to anyone who has been involved with the videos in any way. They are most excellent and much appreciated.
