Fall back everyone! We get to sleep an extra hour tonight. With my extra hour, I believe I will scrub the bathtub. They say that now is also a good time to remember to replace the batteries on your smoke alarms.

I wish they (whoever they is) would STOP changing the time. How did this happen? Who made this rule? Can we vote to choose one time and leave it alone?
I wish we could! LOL. It would make it so I wouldn't have to worry about all my clocks being the right time. Especially since I can't figure out how to get my watch to switch times. Only my uncle knows.

The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" in many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening. Countries have different change dates.
The idea of daylight saving was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin (portrait at right) during his sojourn as an American delegate in Paris in 1784, in an essay, "An Economical Project."

Ah, good ol' Benny Franklin...
He thought it would be a good joke... I bet he is laughing now Bwahahahahhah
I like daylight savings time. And I like the new idea of extending it longer. I remember there was legislation signed that would start daylight savings time three weeks earlier in 2007 and end it a week later as an energy-saving measure. Does anyone know if daylight savings time will still be extended? Or did something change? I don't need sunshine at 7 a.m. near as much as I need it at 7 p.m.
Of course, my hubby didn't remember to change his alarm clock and went to Church an hour early, so there is a downside. He changed his watch, but not his alarm clock. See what happens when I travel? Jolie and Gidget, perhaps we should hold Ben responsible for coming back from the dead to nag us until each clock in the house or car gets changed.

Since when is "wrist watch a bad word" Oh.....when put together they form a bad word in the middle.
Anywho.....I bought my stepdaughter an alarm clock that automatically changes time and even goes to the correct time when the power goes off. I had to get it for her...she is so absent minded most of the time.

Oh good grief! This is going from bad to worse for me lately. I didn't even look at the post to see the asterisks there. Maybe I better just hide under a rock. I know precious little street slang and am not eager to learn more. I will fix the post so I don't look as if I use objectionable words in addition to looking like a drunken gambler.

It's ok Arts, the party line is that it's all jon's fault! You can't be held responsible for any of it!

Lol arts! I saw the word starred out but couldn't figure out why either and just thought it was one of those words like "chauffeur" that you can't type on the idol site for no apparent reason.

My mind is always in the gutter apparently, so I noticed what the bad word right away.

In modern times (yes, that means after Ben Franklin) when did we start using this crazy method of changing time? I don't care which time is chosen but, wish it was one way or the other.

I see no bad words-----
I enjoyed Arts story very much.
quote:
Since 1966, most of the United States has observed Daylight Saving Time from at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of April to 2:00 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. Beginning in 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.
2007 March 11 November 4
In the U.S., restaurants and bars have various closing policies. In many states, liquor cannot be served after 2:00 a.m. But at 2:00 a.m. in the fall, the time switches back one hour. So, can they serve alcohol for that additional hour in October? The official answer is that the bars do not stop serving liquor at 2:00 a.m., but actually at 1:59 a.m. So, they have already stopped serving when the time changes from Daylight Saving Time into Standard Time. In practice, however, many establishments stay open an extra hour in the fall.
In the U.S., 2:00 a.m. was originally chosen as the changeover time because it was practical and minimized disruption. Most people were at home and this was the time when the fewest trains were running. It is late enough to minimally affect bars and restaurants, and it prevents the day from switching to yesterday, which would be confusing. It is early enough that the entire continental U.S. switches by daybreak, and the changeover occurs before most early shift workers and early churchgoers (particularly on Easter) are affected.
The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" in many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.
If you live near the equator, day and night are nearly the same length (12 hours). But elsewhere on Earth, there is much more daylight in the summer than in the winter. The closer you live to the North or South Pole, the longer the period of daylight in the summer. Thus, Daylight Saving Time (Summer Time) is usually not helpful in the tropics, and countries near the equator generally do not change their clocks.
Arts edited her post and removed the wris****ch mention....oops, I wrote it there though. Sorry to offend with such a nasty word.
