Are you kidding me? I would have FREAKED OUT! Amazing story.. I smell a talk show tour, lol. Thank goodness he is okay.

Those 911 calls are crazy. Jennifer was freakin out big time. That guy is so lucky the truck only traveled 5 miles. CRAZY!!!

I saw a no legged man crossing the street in his wheelchair yesterday and couldn't help but be nervous for him. He was a dumb butt though, he crossed in the middle of a 6 lane road...the crosswalk was only 50 feet down the street.

Apparently, he was crossing the road in the crosswalk in front of the truck, which was stopped at a red light. The driver must not have been paying attention, because when the light changed, off he went. The handles of the chair got caught (probably a lucky thing!), and wheelchair dude went for a 50 mph ride!
He didn't panic, although he did say he didn't think he'd survive if the truck kept going. Some of the witnesses were really freaking out though.
The wheelchair dude said it was like an amusement park ride...or something to that effect.

I know several people called 911, but I wonder why someone didn't make more of an effort to chase down the truck driver, honk at him, or whatever to get his attention to tell him to pull over. I think it said he went about 5 miles before he stopped. If he was going 50 MPH, I would think someone would be able to catch up to him.

Makes me wonder if the truck had one of those "How is my driving" numbers.. If you call it they really do contact the driver if you say they weren't driving good...
i probably would've died from a heart attack if i was that guy....scary.
going back to calling 911 on a cell: if any of you have dialed it from your cell before, you'll know that it takes a good 20-30 seconds for your phone to enter "emergency mode" and to get through to a dispatcher. now THAT's scary...imagine how much can happen in that time!
I don't think it takes that much time on home phones....We've called 911 from the home phone and it was pretty quick. Although, in most places, when you call 911, you're not calling a LOCAL place....The 911 dispatcher has to send your call to the local authorities so they can send the right emergency personnel. It's the reason that I have all of our local police department numbers on my cell phone.
