Indeed, I am having all four of my wisdom teeth cut out in a little less than a week. I expected to be down for about 3 days, but I'm also having a Frenectomy, in which either all ofr some of the muscle Frenum in my mouth is cut out. So, just wish me luck I guess. The Oral surgeon said that the mucle removal is gonna suck for me.
gross gross gross. good luck. haha. i haven't had mine out yet. they say i only have 3 total, anyway. my friend has 5. double ouch. i always worry when i go to the dentist to see if they say they have to come out.

Mine are still coming in... I have three in all the way (or almost all the way) they didn't hurt that much.. But the fourth one.. OMG it keeps pushing and then stopping... And it is very painful... (I go through peroids of time where I will taste blood for like a week and then it is covered again...)
LOL, and not only that, the orthodontist just put and Upper 12 Power Chain on my braces. Yeah. So, raise your hand if your not gonna be able to chew for about, umm, 2 weeks?
Like BnL, I only had 3 and had them all removed but it was no big deal.. I had one done on one visit then went back and had the other 2 taken out. In fact, I went to work straight from the dentist both times. I was lucky because they were not a problem, just too big for my mouth.

I had mine taken out when I was a sophomore in high school....My top ones were in my sinus cavity and my bottom ones were sideways in my jawbone. They said that if I sneezed for the first week that I could cause big probelms in my sinuses.
Just make sure you keep your mouth clean so you can avoid any infection! It'll only hurt for a couple days (if that) and then it's just the final healing process!
I had mine taken out last September. It was great lol. It wasn't that bad actually. I was on drugs for about a week and then it was all good. Good luck Punky.
LOL, see the Oral Surgeon siad about the same as ya'll. The wisdom teeth surgery wouldn't be as bad as everyone says it is. But that combined with the frenectomy, will put me down for awhile. I'm figuring anytime you get something taken out of your mouth, it's gonna hurt and swell some.
My name is Sarah, I'm a "Gelpen"...I know you don't know me, but I know other people in this thread *waves*
I had all my wisdom teeth taken out last summer, and it hurt...not the area where they took out the teeth so much, but the swelling...my teeth would constantly rub my inner cheeks and the meds weren't doing a thing for the pain it was causing (I was on vicodin). My mom finally called the pharmacist and she said to take ibprofen, and sure enough, it stopped all the pain. So, my advice to you is to get frozen peas to put on your face to help the swelling and to take ibprofen
Hey Callie! I know...I looked at the last time I posted here and it was back in 2005
Yes, frozen peas help because if you use an ice pack, they're solid and puts pressure on the area which hurts, while frozen peas move around and the bag can "go with" the shape of your face. I tried using frozen blueberries, but they were too big and it put too much pressure (I learned about the frozen peas when John Stevens had to get his wisdom teeth removed and he talked about it on his forum )

LOL Good old John Stevens and his words of wisdom Is his forums still up? I haven't been there in forever...
Last time I checked it was, but I haven't posted there in forever =^_^= He's still going to college....he came in a few months ago and posted, but I missed it.
Hmm, I'll mention it to my parents. I think we have some frozen peas on hand actually because we use them to feed our fish. It helps them not to suck air.
Well, I'm up! The surgery went well as far as I can tell. All I can feel is my swollen cheeks and some stitches in the side of my mouth. I'll say this though, I love pain killers. The one the gave me was FABULOUS.
glad you are doing ok. Will the stitches dissolve or do you have to have them removed?
