Hi All, I’m starting the first ever JPLm NASCAR challenge. This game is a long running game in which the more you participate the better chance you have at winning the grand prize (to be announced at a later date and time, but I promise its worth playing for). The idea behind this game is that in order to win the grand prize you have to play as many weeks as you possibly can.
The goal of this game is to pick a NASCAR Nextel cup driver every week that you want to be “your driver”. You can pick the same driver throughout the game, or a different driver every week; the strategy you want to employ is up to you. Where ever the driver you picked finishes for that week’s race that will be the number of points you’ll get for that week. For example if you picked Kasey Kahne and he finishes 5th you’ll get 5 points. At the end of the game (length will be at least 6-8 weeks, but possibly longer if I get enough people who want to play) the person with the lowest point total will win. Here is the catch, in order to make it fair you have to have participated and made a pick in at least 80% of the total weeks played, to ensure that you got the lowest points total fairly. (Does that make sense?).
Also, for a little added bonus, if you should pick the winning driver of the week, you will receive 50 Karma points. So playing this game will also help your chances of gaining Karma points.
Here are the basic rules: 1.) You must participate in 80% of the total weeks played in order to win 2.) You must have your driver pick in at least two hours prior to the scheduled start time of the race. 3.) You may change your pick for the week up until approximately two hours prior to the scheduled start time of each race (I’ll post the start time and other race info every week). 4.) Have fun!
This thread will be the thread where you can ask questions and/or keep track of your score/ranking within the game (and possibly a few other stats if I have time). However, there will be a new contest thread every week where you will make your pick for that week’s race (link for each week’s thread will be placed in here).

Sadly, no one picked the winner this week, so there will be no bonus karma points. But, keep playing and see if you can pick next week’s winner. You all are doing really well, and remember the goal of the game is to get the lowest points total, so even if you seem like you have a lot of points now, don’t worry….a few picks of some top five finishing drivers and you’ll be back in contention in no time at all. After all, this game is gonna run for several weeks, so unless you are a NASCAR genius or just have really good luck, your bond to have a few off weeks. First of all, welcome to JPLm!
Anyway, sure, you can pick Jeff every week. However, you do have to officially post your pick in the current week's thread every week in order for you pick to be counted (that is only to keep it fair and within the rules). But, if you'd like to play and make your pick for this week HERE is the thread for week two. We'd love to have you join the challenge.

The race was cancelled on Sunday, due to weather, but they raced on Monday...

Please note that only those who play in roughly 80% of the total weeks are eligible to win the grand prize. However, keep in mind that you are also playing for Karma points, since anyone who picks the winner on a give week will receive karma points.
Also note, I’ll be going back over the scores to double check my math, but if you all notice any errors or if I’ve forgotten anyone please let me know.
