Time to rev this thread up again. I'm off to see the Sooners play UAB this evening. We lost our star quarterback after he took money from a local booster. So, we've got the backup in, who's an incredibly nice guy and very fast. Hopefully he can throw as well. So, good luck to us!
Have fun at the game, Betts! And, good luck to the sooners!
I'm so excited for college football! From what I've read/heard, my teams (the vols and the hurricanes) should be pretty good this year, so I'm really excited about that.
It should be a good college football season all around!
Luvs, your Vols were more than pretty good. That was a shocker to a lot of people. Personally, I was glad to see it happen. We squeaked by UAB with a win, and saw some great things and some really bad things happen on our team. We have a running back named Adrian Peterson (not related to the Adrian P playing in the NFL) who is nothing short of amazing. If he doesn't get hurt, he should be in New York for the Heisman trophy celebration. His freshman year he finished second behind Matt Leinart, and probably should have won. That's the highest a freshman has ever finished in the Heisman balloting. Last year he was hurt for most of the season, but last night he amassed 140 yards rushing and 70 yards receiving. It was fun to watch. I'm looking forward to the Miami-Florida State game Monday night.
Hey Betts! I was thinking of you today while I looked over the UT schedule! As a hotel sales director, now I need to try to turn the games into some money for me too!
The Texas Exes were having some great kick-off party but it was $50 a person so I couldn't really afford it! *sigh*
Our last experience with USC was similar, lightn, so you have my sympathies. We just squeaked by with a win over Washington (sorry, Paula) and now have to go to Oregon to play the Ducks. They've never beaten us, but they're a better team than they've been in the past and we're worse. I have a bad feeling.....oh well.
Last weekend was one of the saddest games ever for the Sooners. We were ahead of Oregon by 13 points with just over a minute to go. They scored a touchdown and kicked an onside kick. The refs said Oregon recoverd it, after a challenge and a review. Everyone who saw the play from all angles said an Oregon player touched the ball before it had gone 10 yards, and an Oklahoma player recovered it. Oregon went on and scored a touchdown and then heroically, the Sooners made it within field goal range with seconds to go. Their kick was blocked. Later review of the tape by officials, sportscasters and myriad interested bystanders proved that both the officials and the man in the press box were wrong. The ball was clearly touched by an Oregon player before it had gone ten yards and it was recovered by an Oklahoma player anyway. Big screw job. The refs were suspended and the Pac-10 issued an apology to the University of Oklahoma. There is lots of mourning and lots of talking on sports radio this week. We should be 3-0, and that was one of the poorer refereeing jobs I've ever seen. But, that's the breaks of the game, as a game's outcome has never been changed, even with proof of error that would have affected the final outcome. Sigh.
I should be posting good things here too. Bu we lost our star running back. He was a really great leader on the team, and an extra-special talent. My son feels like the only good thig about his Raiders being so abysmal is that they'll probably get the first pick in the draft and may get this guy. His name is Adrian Peterson (no relation to the other Adrian Peterson of the Bears as far as I know) and he broke his collrbone last week getting into thee end zone. His freshman year he ranked second in Heisman voting, the best a freshman has ever done. Last year he was injured, and we felt this was going to be his breakout year. But sadly, no.
Im recovering (sort of) from our heartstopping and heartbreaking loss to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. I wouldn't have been so bad to lose if we hadn't looked like it was going to happen with just a minute left. We had Boise on 4th down and 18, and I thought that was going to be it. Sigh.
Another NCAA Football season is here .. anyone want to discuss?
Go WSU Cougars!! Well, they are not having the best season so far, but there is still a lot of games left!

I know it's not football season, but I just found this and felt like posting here. My favorite college football team is Auburn University Tigers. I live for going to their ball games and seeing the Eagle fly out while everyone in the stands yells 'War Eagle' to get the Eagle pumped up and excited.
Cool.. Things like that is what makes college sports so much fun.

Yeah. It's the traditions like those that make college football what it is today. Now that I'm going off to college in the fall, I cannot wait until I can go to my school's football games. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Sounds like fun. It will be an away game for you, do you plan on going?
