This one is about Jon's show at Labette College in Kansas.

http://www.koamtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=8178465

Yes lucky, I think that works. That was my idea when I started this thread, but I was in a hurry and didn't spell it out. For some articles, it might be good to have a new thread, but I think most can be handled here for a while at least. So thanks for your post.

I'm not entirely sure how to evaluate the relative significance of the articles I've posted so far, but US Magazine is sold in stores and is a big deal. I think the NY Post is also a well known outlet.

Video of Jon being interviewed at Kansas City's Fox 4. http://www.myfoxkc.com/myfox/pages/Entertainment/Detail...de=VSTY&pageId=7.1.1

Article by Jason Hughes that mentions Jon.
http://www.tvsquad.com/2008/04/16/ai-aftermath-8th-plac...s-videos/1#c11675573

My only quibble with this otherwise good article is that Jason says that the Curtain Call album is what got Jon attention. The truth is that Break the Silence would have been well under way before Curtain Call came out. Also, Don Grierson, the executive producer for the new album, has recognized Jon's talent from way back, at least from soon after the release of Stories From Hollywood. Jon is certainly no stranger to working with prominent people in the industry. I could rehash all the great people involved with the first album, but I don't have time. I just want to make clear that it was more the fist album itself and Jon's obvious talent that have gotten him to where he is now, not the release of the Curtain Call album, though that album is a good thing too.

That was an interesting little piece on Jon in the US US, It's great he's getting this kind of notice. You know Jon pretty much has it right with his AI predictions. There were indeed some upsets (Michael leaving when he did) and I was thinking today who might be inthe finale; and since " they" the (producers?) have preferred a boy/girl scenario for the past three years the only girl I could think of who's left is Carly-and I figured young David would be in the finale with her. She's a good belter and she may give him a run for his money. Flower Smile
I love reading Jon's reviews on the show; they're so funny and on the money! Wink

Another good interview with Jon in the Melissa "Post" interview. I'm just going down the list and reading them. Arts, you must be really busy finding these interviews. Keep up the good work! (And how are you anyway?Smile
Love what he said about is evaluations of the current idols; agree with his assessment of Michael Johns, although he was my favorite; I wondedred early on if he wouldn't be an underachiever. Love his voice, always! Can't wait to hear his music! Flower What he said about David A. is so funny! Flower
You know I really like his whole assessment of "Idol"; that was fascinating reading. It is like an acid trip of some sort, while you're on it, you're riding high, but yes, you must come down-when it's over; and get on with the real part of your life; making good music, and Jon is doing just that; So glad he did it his way; God's way, and did not leave his career in the hands of any shady record executives just out to make a quick buck. It took longer, but it was certainly worth it. Smile Flower Wink Ahh, my Jon Peter! Love Hug

Jon singing for Billboard and Radio & Records magazines is a big deal. Making an impression on these people puts Jon in a great position because they will recommend him to radio stations and others in the industry. Fred Bronson, who is in the one photo, already called Jon's first album "very fine," and since this new album appears to be much better, it is no surprise Jon got such a warm reception from these folks.

Here is the link to the original author's posting about Jon at Billboard. He is a redcarpet photographer and entertainment journalist, according to his profile.

I'm happy to say that the performance was memorable with his lead single "Break The Silence." As Jon sang, you could see the genuine appreciation of everyone who came to check him out. I think if he was on the show now, he'd definitely be Top 5.

While Jon was in Atlanta, Rodney Ho of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution interviewed him. I'm going to post some of Mr. Ho's comments praising the album on the review thread. Here, I'll pull out one quote that made me smile:

"And he turned down a chance to go on NBC’s 'Fear Factor,' which Anthony Fedorov and Carmen Rasmussen ultimately chose to do. 'I just didn’t want to eat worms just to get TV time,' he said."

I can't imagine why Jon doesn't want to eat worms. See? Donny Osmond did it, so it must be cool.

Smile

I really enjoyed that article too arts. I'm glad he didn't do Fear Factor because I can't watch that show.. it's too gross. The part about meeting Jeff Archuletta was interesting and I loved the video of his performance in Reading, PA:

How about this for strange? He had been singing “Stand By Me” with a smidgen of Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls.” He said when he visited “Idol” the week Amanda Overmyer was eliminated, he said he ran into Jeff Archuleta, David’s dad, who said he had been following Jon Peter Lewis’ career for awhile. Perhaps Jeff was inspired by Jon Peter Lewis? Probably a stretch but check it out here, when he performed the song April 1, 2008 at Albright College in Reading, PA:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ulXE8m1Y9w

I thought the part about Jordin Sparks was real interesting too:

"Back in 2004, a 13 year old Jordin Sparks, wearing a “JPL” T-shirt met him and gave him an indie CD she had worked on."

Yeah, he would have been great at those stunts. I would watch Fear Factor if he was on it, but I don't watch that show because I have a weak stomach and when they have to eat bugs I have to change the channel and some of the other things just freak me out too much.. I know I'm a wimp. I like Survivor, but I have to change the channel when they have to eat gross stuff. Then I change it back when that part is over.

Jon gets several mentions and his photo in Music Connection magazine this month. The article is called "Multi-Studio Recording" and is written by Dan Kimpel. The whole article is interesting, well written and well researched, but I'll direct you to the parts about Jon.

This page contains a photo of Chris Garcia, the producer for Break the Silence. In the paragraph above Chris's photo, you can read about the use of drums in Jon's album.

This page discusses the use of guitars for Jon's album. The part about Jon is below a photo of Rob Chiarelli, who, coincidentally, produced Jon's cover of "My Girl" for the AI Season 3 album "Greatest Soul Classics." Look right under the subtitle "All Amped Up."

This page features a photo of Jon playing guitar and more comments about Jon from Chris.

I find all the technical aspects of music fascinating. I'd love to know what all the buttons and knobs do.

Also, as a side note, I'm really proud of myself for figuring out how to get y'all directly to pertinent pages instead of just to the main page for the magazine. With a Flash based site, each page has the exact same address unless you can go in by some back door. Finding back doors is fun! There may be an easier way than the way I used, so I'd welcome any tips from more knowledgeable people.

Thanks so much for sharing this Arts. I appreciate your hard work. Thumb

I too really enjoyed reading about what it takes to make an album. No wonder JP said it's his favorite part.

Shellie Branco of the Bakersfield Californian interviewed Jon. They dicuss the new album, including "Song For Christopher Columbus" and "Beautiful."

I like this article, but when I've heard the song, I didn't really see Columbus lamant about "the part he played in the destruction of the New World." I think the song is a metaphor about risk taking in general. For me, the song's message is not akin to Disney's Pocahontas movie. But I guess that is the beauty of a metaphor--different people can see different things in it. In the article, Jon talks about how the song deals with innocence lost. Yes. I see that.
