JPL on "American Idol Extra," Thurs, 3/16/06

Jon will be a guest on the debut show of a new series, "American Idol Extra." The weekly show will air on the Fox Reality Network beginning Thursday, March 16th at 6:30 p.m. (EST) and 10:30 p.m.

So this means Jon will be on television two days this week on 2 different shows.

UPDATE: It looks as if this show may repeat several more times during the week. I can't confirm this information on my tv's guide function yet, however.

Yeah!! I look forward to seeing Jon on TV again.

Is this a cable channel that most people have or just a few....I've never heard of it.

Apparently, on direct tv, it is on channel 250, but I can't get it. I will try to look into it some more.

um...i dont get that channel maybe my grandpa does though. i dont know. he does have like 200+ channels though so i'll ask.

It looks as if people who miss the show the first day can catch it when it is rebroadcast later in the week. I hope that information is accurate and that the show will in fact air several times. Here is part of the info I found at this SITE

Ah...wouldn't ya know....I don't even know anyone with direct tv or dish network. I wonder if there is any chance this will come to regular cable....over 200 channels and I can't get this one. :P

Man, no direct tv for me either. I'm going to have to try and sweet talk a friend, I guess.

I hope that this info is clear to everyone. I will continue to look into it some more tomorrow if I get a chance, but anyone who subscribes to Cox, Adelphia, Dish Network, or DirecTV might have a chance to see this show . The date on that one article was last spring (2005), so all these companies should be carrying the Fox reality station by now, and more companies could possibly also have been added. I suggest people just call their cable or satellite cable company to find out if the station is available.

Fox Reality Channel shows up on my DirectTV at channel 250, but I have a really odd package and that station is not one that I can actually access. I do have some rich friends however who may get this station, and I will try to find someone who can record it or at least let me watch at her house. If I get a chance to watch, I will take notes and report back to everyone. There is some evidence that this station may even be only a digital station, which would make it even less likely most people would be able to get it.

If anyone else has information about which companies carry this station and what the station number is for those companies, please post about it since my info is certainly incomplete and could possibly even be wrong and out of date.

Remember to watch this show this evening (Thursday). I have asked about 20 people if they get this station, and it is beginning to look as if I will at least be able to watch it. I will try to take notes and give a report, but I hope that anyone else who can see it will also come and report. I think that most people who read on this site will not get a chance to see the show, so they will appreciate getting the low down.

On the American Idol General area, some people have been giving some good advice about this show. One person pointed out that if you go to the FOX REALITY NETWORK HOMEPAGE and scroll to the very bottom, right hand side, you see a place to click to answer the question "Do you get Fox Reality?" Also on that homepage is this really useful info:

"Fox Reality is rolling out on cable systems across the country, including systems for Cox, Adelphia, Insight, and Cable One. To find out if your cable provider is carrying Fox Reality call 1.877.859.REAL. If your cable company doesn’t currently offer Fox Reality, let them know how much you want to see Fox Reality on your channel lineup. Fox Reality is also currently carried as part of DIRECTV’s Total Choice package and DISH Network’s America’s Top 180 package."


Another person indicated that Fox Reality is channel 102 on Dish Network.

And perhaps on other cable and satellite providers too.

I just turned it on now, but I missed the first few minutes, so I don't know what I may have missed.

Did they show Jon? Did they show Melissa? Nine minutes is certainly not enough time to devote to Jon, so I hope he came on later in the show.

It sounds as if this show had lots of information and guest appearances from former contestants. Matt Rogers was one of the hosts. Bo had a long segment and he talked about Katrina victims and cried. There was a parade of folks from Justin G. to Melissa. I hope I get to see it for myself and I will give you more of the Jon-related description.

This show appears to be rebroadcastingat at 8 p.m. tonight (Friday) and then Saturday at noon and 11:30 p.m., Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and I stopped looking at my guide at that point. Apparently, any Bo fans will really want to see this. I bet Jon was imitating Simon when he said his part.

Well, I was feeling sorry for myself for not having seen this show yet and not being able to tape it so I can give a good description of it. So I started flipping through the channels on my guide function, just in case, you know, by some miracle, I can catch Jon on some OTHER AI related show to tell y'all about. I hardly ever go through my guide and the only show I watch is "American Idol" and anything that is going to have Jon on it. I just don't have time really for anything else.

So there I am being absolutely ridiculous and flipping through the channels on my guide. Yep--there is channel 250 that has American Idol Extra on it and that I can't get. Drat it all! I hit the 300 range and whoa!!! What is this unbelievable thing??? Channel 334 is listing the show as on right then! How can this be??? And they are listing the show as repeating all night long, back to back! I hit the OK button with little hope since I have an unusual mix of stations on my satellite. And there, amazingly enough, is Matt! I knew that Matt and Jon had been on at the same time, so I watched for about 5 seconds and Jon materialized out of thin air! I was so stunned that it all kind of flew past me.

So here is the scoop:
On directv, channel 334--which is a station called "Free" that showcases directv's original programming--you can watch this show at 9, 10, 11, midnight, 1 a.m, 2 a.m. and so forth. I got tired of scrolling. Jon was on at about 10 minutes after the hour. I will tape it and give a detailed account of his 30 seconds.

I may have some of this wrong, but here is a transcript of what Jon said.

This apparently taped on Tuesday night because Jon is wearing the same shirt and they said something about it being taped then. Does anyone know what that shirt is about? It has a big splotchy, red X on it or some such thing. Matt is interviewing several “big celebrities,” as they called it. Jon is a big celebrity and he doesn’t even have his EP out yet! They keep jumping from one big celebrity to another, so Jon keeps getting interspersed with other people and his comments are out of context.

First bit—Matt and Jon have obviously been exchanging greetings. Jon says, “I’m great. How are you?” He does look and sound glad to see Matt again.

Second bit—I am not at all sure what elicited this comment, but they show Jon saying, “Very stream lined” while he smooths his hands backwards inches above either side of his head. That was one of the more fun moments.

Third bit—Matt says, acting VERY excited, “I’m standing here with Jon Peter Lewis.”
Jon says, “Haha. What’s up?”
Matt: “Do you get a chance to speak with any of the judges at all?”
Jon: “You know, I mean, you get the chance briefly to say hello and how are ya and Randy gives you, ‘What’s up dog?’ And I give him, ‘Um, nothin’ dog.’”

Fourth bit—Matt: : “Simon gives you the ‘Hello Jon Peter Lewis.’” [arrogant British accent on that]
Jon: “You know, I actually, I don’t think I’ve actually spoken to him since the show. But every time I see him, he always, he always kind of . . . it’s from a distance. . . and he always kind of gives me a thumbs up and a wink. [Jon winks] And he mouths, ‘How are ya?’ And I’m like, you know, I’m like, ‘Greeeaat.’” Then Jon grins and sticks both his thumbs up.

Jon was talking quickly and with animation through most of this. Jon does well with these interviews. He has a quick wit.
