When I was trying to sign into yahoo mail, a video on the homepage caught my eye. It was about how all the names of people who made into the Hollywood rounds of AI had been leaked on Idol Forums. After watching that video, I thought I'd search on MSNBC for anything about Jon since I like to find things for y'all.
I found
this review of the movie "American Dreamz" from April of 2006. This movie was based on American Idol.
After finding plenty of things to pan about the movie, the author, Andy Dehnart, titles his second page "Characters That Make You Long For Jon Peter Lewis." He then proceeds to discuss how flat and one dimensional the contestant characters are:
"But they aren't familiar 'Idol' personalities, who generally appear to be somewhat out of their element and thus are endearing to the people who vote for them.
It's a difference in dimension; the 'Dreamz' contestants — of whom we only really meet two — are flat characters, despite the minor changes they undergo as the plot unfolds. With better writing, they might have mirrored some of the things we love about 'Idol' contestants, whether they're humble or arrogant, ugly or hot. 'American Idol' is a reality show instead of a fictional drama because real people are far more unbelievable and unpredictable."
So by implication, the author is saying that Jon is endearingly interesting. Jon is real and multi-faceted.
Amen brother! There is nothing worse than flat, unrealistic, boring, fictional characters. Unfortunately, most real rock and pop stars these days seem like carbon copies or even unintentional parodies of other rock and pop stars. Jon smashes the mold. Hallelujah!
