If you were lucky enough to go to Idol Camp, we hope you stop by and tell us about it!

First and foremost, Jon was amazing. he performed for us special and took the time to hang out with us. He taught a few classes (with help of course) and seriously just sat down and ate with us when it was time to eat. I was mainly at the table with him trying to fit into conversations haha. I proved to be very slow. One of the things that was probably the funniest thing out of the whole experince was Jon starting the 'me so hungry' song randomly because we couldnt eat till the parents left and we were trying to get them to leave. I also really enjoyed 'modeling' his guitar. Haha. The whole experince in general was so amazing and surreal. It didnt feel like we were even there. It flew by and my friend and I actually went up and had a group hug with Jon because we were so sad it was over. We were crying so hard it was kinda patheic but it was just the rush of emotions knowing it was over. Honestly, the campers got kinda close to him in a way, and we were just so amazed that he took the time to talk to us all the time. He didn't blow anyone off and it was just plain fun. Oh, and he's really good at ping pong. There was a very intence game going on between him and a counciler named Tom, hahaha. But not only did I have fun seeing Jon, I learned so much at idol camp. I've never had lessons before, and I love song writing and singing, and I just gained so much confidence in myself and now I'm ready to record my music and perform and stuff more. It was the best time of my life and I really hope to try to go next year again -Christy
Sounds like it was an amazing experience Christy! Thanks so much for telling us about it. I think Jon had fun too so hopefully he'll write about his experience.
P.S. Who won the ping pong match between Jon and Tom?

you know... i really don't remember who won. I think it might of been Tom, but I'm not sure. I was to busy dodging the ping pongs, especially since Jon had hit me in the head a few times with the ping pong *how he managed that I don't know.* but i hit him by mistake too. xD I really should try to figure it out, I might go email Tom later on and ask who won. Hahahaha.
Great story Christy! That's really neat that you are now more inspired to write and sing songs. Jon has always seemed to me to be great with kids, so when I heard he was teaching Idol Camp, I figured he would be excellent at it. Is the "Me So Hungry" song something Jon made up or a known song? When you say you modeled his guitar, does that mean you actually made like a clay model of it or something? I have long admired his Gibson custom hummingbird guitar. It's a truly beautiful instrument. What songs did he sing for you?

im gonna guess and say that the me so hungry song exsited, it sounded like something that cookie monster would say. haha. but who knows :P
When I say model, I mean like, I asked him if I could take pictures with his guitar and pose hahahaha. It was so fun but his guitar was really like almost as big as I am. It was kinda funny.
He sung Amanda Grace first *my friend and I yelled into the audiance to have him sing it, we were front and center for that* Turn To Grey, A Melody *is that what you call a mix of songs?*, and I forget the final song. He also sung a song with Carmen and played guitar for most of her set.
He also joined my improtu comady class for a day, it was really funny because we made him do a skit with one of the girls. OUr topic was discriptination, but you are supposed to make it light hearted and funny, so she said she didnt like his hair because it was to curley, his responce was 'Well, My Mamma loves me. I don't think your mamma loves you." O_o one of those *had to be there* kinda moments i guess. lol

Thanks Christy for the photos and everything. You are a cute girl, and it seems you really were having tons of fun at camp. Jon has lots of background in drama and a quick wit, so improv would be something he ought to get into.
I had actually typed in the speculation that the "Me So Hungry Song" might have come from Sesame Street, but I guessed Oscar the Grouch. Obviously, it's been way too long since I've watched that show. I took out that speculation before posting because it didn't sound right.
In your video, do you know who the guy is taking video up on stage? Do campers get a video of the camp? Or was he likely from some news outlet?
**************************** California Christmas this year.
Haha. For the guy thats taking a video on stage, i believe it was a mix of people doing it for idol camp (we are gonna be able to download stuff at some point this summer) and a mix of press. Because, for the most part at idol camp, you couldn't turn around without a camera being shoved in your face. *because we were the first session of the first ever idol camp* Actually, still now its hard not to go somewhere without some form of attention, like, I have about 2 interviews to do *with a newspaper and with fox at some point apperently* and my friends and I from camp are gonna be in a magazine called Justine because they randomly started taking posed pictures of us *like a photoshoot*
I'm hoping for our sake they don't show EVERYTHING that happened, like the big booty game. (its a game where'd you'd be like "big booty big booty big booty, oh yeah, big booty, big booty number one' and the next person would have to say their number, and their number doubled. and if you messed up then you'd be number 12. and the reasoning for that is cos Jon was playing that with us and at the end he was like 'my booty's to big for this game' and left randomly, then the ppl with cameras left. So, who knows. that would be funny and embarassing for all of us if that got on tv tho!)
Nice to meet you Christy. Thanks so much for all your positive words about Jon and you experience. He is such a likable guy. Glad you had such a good time at camp...too bad it wasn't longer.
Thanks for the pictures too. You are adorable and the one with jon is awesome. Great shot of him and his BLUE eyes.

no problem! It was so fun. I believe Jon said that he was thinking of trying to go next year, and all my friends were like SCORE because we are trying to do the same. Hahaha.
I thought y'all would like to know what is being said on the American Idol forum about Jon at Idol Camp. Apparently, he plays well with others. (That's a mom joke, if you don't get it.) I especially like the first quote where the poster says Jon is a leader and is respected by the kids.
This all is coming from various posters on this thread.
Here is a photo of Jon posing with one of the campers.
And here is a mish mash of quotes from people:
"Counselors were awesome, and the past season idols spent a good deal of time with the kids as a group - and some one on one - however Jon Peter Lewis was the one whom I saw on Saturday night really being a leader and very respected by the kids."
"It was totally fun to watch! Jon Peter Lewis even performed with the kids. What a great guy."
"She's gotten autographs from Carmen, Ace and Jon Peter. Kimberley Locke won't be there until next session and she hasn't seen Vonzell yet. She has hugged Ace (about 5 times) and talked with him with a group of other kids. She spent part of this afternoon hanging out with Jon Peter Lewis. It turns out he grew up about 5 miles from where we live so they bonded over that. But she is having actual conversations with them all. What fun!"

haha. jon was seriously amazing. Everyone ended up loving him by the end of camp. We all looked up to him and it was kinda one of those things were we'd see what he'd do sometimes. It was weird but cool at the same time.
There was this girl in the ping pong room, and she was kinda being really rude, so when she asked for a picture Jon was still really nice and said sure. Then, she TOLD Tom to take a picture and Jon was just like "I think you should say PLEASE" and all of us (ok, well, there was only 3 of us there besides for tom, jpl, and the girl) were just like. Right On! It was cool cause he really did set a good example, and that proved that he was being a good example in mannors at least. Haha. I don't think the girl ever said please though.......>_>
…Welcome to the first Idol Camp, a 10-day performance arts retreat run by the producers of “American Idol” for 12- to 15-year-olds with budding dreams of Hollywood fame, a zeal for being on stage and — in many cases — an encyclopedic knowledge of the highest-rated U.S. television show…
…”The talent ranges but I think there is a group of very elite musicians here,” said Jon Peter Lewis, a singer who finished eighth on “American Idol” in 2004 and teaches singing and other performing arts at the camp.
While there are no talent scouts from music labels at the camp, he said, “there’s definitely going to be some connections that these kids are going to be able to make for their benefit.”
“But they are minors and all that would be dependent upon them and their families,” Lewis said. “That’s not an aspect to the camp that I think is emphasized, but it’s there.”
