Stella Ruggiero of the
Titusville Herald interviewed Jon as a lead up to Jon's appearance at the University of Pittsburgh, Titusville on April 3. The whole article is well worth reading, but here is a brief excerpt about the album:
"'It's not like it's going to make you depressed and hate the world,' he chuckled. 'But it's moodier.'
The ‘Idol' alum went into the studio to work on his sophomore album with the intent of defining his sound.
'We really wanted to start to make a self definition -- define the sound that I have.'
In some ways, his ‘Idol' start left him with a lot of work to do as far as hammering out his own style. 'It's hard coming out of
"American Idol." You're more of a TV personality and people don't have a sense of who you are through the speakers.'
An although he had a clear purpose with this album, he didn't have a one-track mind. 'There's some plugged-in pop music and broken down acoustic stuff. There's also some soul,' he said. As for what fans won't be hearing, Lewis cracked, 'They shouldn't expect to hear Pantera.'"
