Jon has been invited to perform at the charity event, "For the Love of Lily". The event will be hosted by Billy Mason, Tim McGraw's longtime drummer, on August 13th in Akron, Ohio. Proceeds from the event will benefit the orphans of China and families wishing to adopt. Jon will be a guest of the golf tournament which starts at 11:00 a.m. and then perform later that evening, exact time to be announced. Tickets are $10.

My daughter is a flight attendant so she travels a lot. She called me from Akron, OH today and said she heard this event advertised on the radio. The commercial said something like, "Jon Peter Lewis from American Idol will be performing"... It was on a country station she had on in her hotel room.

Tickets are available at the Rosemont Country Club golf course for $10.00. People can watch Jon golf on 4 of the holes since spectator areas will be set up. If they show up around 3:00, they should be able to see Jon golf. The concert should start around 5:00 or 6:00 and it will be outside. Anyone who has further questions can call Rosemont Country Club in Akron at 330-666-8109 (pro shop) and ask for directions. It is very easy to find. . . less than 5 minutes off of Interstate 77. The country club's website does not appear to work, but if anyone finds out more information, please let everyone know.

No, she doesn't recall. When they said Jon was performing it caught her attention and she called me.

Jon and his team played a spectacular round of golf today finishing the tournament in 2nd place! Always humble about his golf swing and battling 20 foursomes, JPL's team managed to beat some stiff competition. Later in the evening, Jon sang to an enthusiastic audience, performing crowd favorites such as Man Like Me, Amanda Grace, Rodeo, The Christopher Columbus Song, Plastique on the Inside (a song he wrote a while ago and pulls out every now and then,) and an absolutely phenomenal acoustic version of Crazy Love. Yes, the same song that blew away the Idol judges when he auditioned in Hawaii. It was spectacular.
Thanks for the info Judy! I've heard him perform "Plastique on the Inside", (I think that is how he spelled it once?) and really liked that song. I was hoping it would have been on his CD, but maybe sometime in the future?
Hope he had a good turnout for the concert. I guess this explains all the "guests" that were online earlier.

The Christopher Columbus song AND "Crazy Love"????? CRAZY LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard Jon sing that whole song a couple of times in Idaho Falls way back in 2004, and it was unforgettably tremendous. He combined his wonderful voice with a dramatic presentation in a way few singers can. It's kind of Judy's job, as Jon's manager, to praise and hype him, but I can honestly affirm that all Judy's descriptions about Jon singing the complete "Crazy Love" are no exaggeration.
Akron isn't so far that I couldn't have gone, and I do have family in Ohio, but I had important family events that rightly overshadowed any thought of attending this show. I just hope I can hear both these songs at some later show since they are probably the two I would most like hear right now.
Sorry you missed the show, jpl_lover. We will cry on each other's shoulders.

Judy
No one's commented on Jon's spectacular finish of second place! So far people are only commenting on Jon's singing-his singing is one thing-but what about this golf hand? We all know Jon's a great Singer/Songwriter and whatever he does is spectacular in my book. But Wow, he's even good at golf. I really don't understand the game of golf that well; but it sounds like Jon could have a second career if the wanted.
I did forget to say congrats to Jon for for finishing 2nd in the Golf Tournement. Very nice! Tiger Woods had better watch out!

Yes, he'd better! Of course, I was being somewhat tongue-in-cheek; I know Jon's singing was the highlight of the event.
