So, I have to say that I think this Albuquerque performance of "Beautiful" is my favorite performance yet from our Mr. Jon Peter Lewis. I can't belive how fabulous this must have been in person!

Jon has such a graceful way of expressing complex emotions. The songs/lyrics are wonderful but make sure to hang around for the final verse of this performance. Jon shuts his eyes and lets loose with that last verse with such power that I swear I can feel the air around him crackling with emotion right through the monitor...lol.

Give it a look...tell me what you think.

Hey, here's another version of "Beautiful" on YouTube. It's also wonderful, though it doesn't have the great close-ups Wink

This song and the way Jon performs both leave me rather speechless. How do you describe perfection? Jon seems to enter another world as he sings this and draws listeners into that world. This is perhaps is his most evocative performance we have on video, and that is really saying something since he always gets the emotion right in songs. The lighting in this really adds to the mood too. When Jon ends the song, he seems a little embarrassed to have poured so much emotion into it. It is a sweet reaction. He sounds extraordinary on it. The whole thing is all so real and so lovely. Couldn't you just see a music video of this?

Ha...a pro music vid of this song would be amazing! I'm really hoping this song makes the new album, cause then there's a better chance I'll get to hear it live the next tour Wink

I think I agree, Mish. Jon really relaxes into that one. He's the best when he stops watching the audience and just lets go... that's when he's really all there, awake to the music. Sublime, dude.

Jonny's got a gift. Let it shine, amigo.

On the YouTube that you posted, Jon says in the beginning that it will be on the next record. I'm hoping for "Plastique on the Inside" and "Mad Science" too! *fingers crossed. And if all my wishes come true we will hear "Mary With Grey Eyes" again some day.

I can't wait to hear all of Jon's wonderful new songs! I can't really play video files all that well on my computer, so I'll have to wait until the CD is released. Smile

It's interesting how many of my favourite artists have a song called Beautiful: Smile

Jon Peter Lewis
The Go-Go's
Amy Grant
Anna Waronker

...and I'm sure there's even more! Wink

Cheers, Mikey Smile
