Ok, so as I have stated before, this is my all time favorite Bob Dylan song. And for that reason, I prefer Bob Dylan's version of the song to Jon's. I do like the fact that Jon made it his own. And I absolutely love that on this track Jon's vocals are only backed by Blake Mills on acoustic guitar.
Here are the lyrics:
When the rain is blowing in your face And the whole world is on your case I could offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear And there is no one there to dry your tears I could hold you for a million years To make you feel my love
I know you haven't made your mind up yet But I would never do you wrong I've known it from the moment that we met No doubt in my mind where you belong
I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue I'd go crawling down the avenue (aisle for you) There's nothing that I wouldn't do To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on the rollin' sea And on the highway of regret The winds of change are blowing wild and free You ain't seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true Nothing that I wouldn't do Go to the ends of the earth for you To make you feel my love
I personally like the original lyrics better, but I know Arts will try to argue with me
Hey, Jolie. This IS a great song. Not a big Dylan fan myself, though I did see him in concert once with Van Morrison. Great the way a really good song never loses it's power though, isn't it?
Yes it is. And Jon sounds all venerable and pleading on this one... I love it, but I still perfer Dylan's raspy voice on this song... But by all means, Jon did this song a hell of a lot better than a other of other people who attempted it (including Kelly Clarkson)!!
yeah...purely a stylistic preference with me and Dylan. i know a bunch of people here who don't like Van's voice, which is unfathomable to me. we all got our tastes.
but...LOL...don't even get me started on Kelly.....
