It's finally here! The long-awaited full length EP...and all done Jon's way, so you know the music is going to rock Guitar

I'll give a stab at lyrics...these are NOT "official lyrics". But I'll try to update them with official lyrics if there are any at some point.

So when the mailman finally brings you your copy of "Stories From Hollywood" (or like me you just get impatient and download them...lol) drop by this thread to let everyone know what you think of the new tunes!

-----------------------------

Boy Next Door - Track 1

Contrary to what you are thinking or what you believe,
I'm here to dispell all the misleadings then all the deceit,
I'm putting it out on the table,
my heart on my sleeve.
One for the cause, cuz I'm able to settle the score...I'm not the boy next door.

I may be your lover,
I may be a freak,
I may be your boyfriend's worst enemy.
I may be a nice guy,
I may be a whore,
I'm here to tell you for sure
I'm not the boy next door.

So many times you've been jaded by all of the games.
So many boys masqueraded as love's precious flame.
I'm not the devil and I'm not an angel, just a human being.
The good thing is that I'm able to tell you for sure...I'm not the boy next door.

I may be your lover,
I may be a freak,
I may be your boyfriend's worst enemy.
I may be a nice guy,
I may be a whore,
I'm here to tell you for sure
I'm not the boy next door.

I come to your house...I'll fix your plumbing. I'll fix your TV set if it's humming.
Holler, holler...that's what I'm here for!
'Cause I'm everything...but the boy next door.

I may be your lover,
I may be a freak,
I may be your boyfriend's worst enemy.
I may be a nice guy,
I may be a whore,
I'm here to tell you for sure....

I may be your lover,
I may be a freak,
I may be your boyfriend's worst enemy.
I may be a nice guy,
I may be a whore,
I'm here to tell you for sure...I'm not the boy next door.

Gypsy Queen - Track 2

I got no money.
I spent it all on a big black Cadillac, yeah honey.
Gonna ride, ride, ride, like Kerouac - cross-country -
3000 miles straight to the coast where it's sunny.
From 1 to 10 I think you are the most bonita, linda senorita.
Why you wanna see how far I crawwwwwl?

One's thing for sure this town won't change.
I can't believe you wanna stay.
Is there nothing that I can say,
won't let you die in your sweet pain.
Hear me now, I got the ride (light?),
I'm gonna leave this town tonight.
For all I know, I could be king...if you would only be my gypsy queen.

It might sound funny,
gonna open up a little coffee shop on Sunset,
where mentally challenged people love to stop
and I cook them
the best sunny side and whole wheat toast
and I tell them from 1 to 10 I think
You are the most bonita, linda senorita.

For all I know, I could be king...
if you would only be my...
if you would only be my...
if you would only be my...
...gypsy queen.

What's Wrong - Track 3

Hail to the chief, baby.
I still believe, maybe,
Dreams aren't made of what they used to be.
I'm still alive, baby.
Hope I'm still cool, maybe, and
Hope that they can't take that from you.

Dreamers find a way to make it though.
But why aren't dreamers much like me or you?
Dreamers don't find them,
They go find you.
We are all just robots plugged into (in too?)

What's going on, baby,
I have the song baby
Oh she bangs, she bangs...
And you can make it, too.

Dreamers find a way to make it though.
But why aren't dreamers much like me or you?
Dreamers don't find them,
They go find you.
We are all just robots plugged into (in too?)

On and on we sing that same old song
So mom and dad can sing and clap along...
...what's wrong?

Man From Amsterdam - Track 4

This is for my mom and my pop and my girl --
Yeah my girl – Who travels around the world
All my good friends you know who you are
Would you love me if I weren’t a -- star?

And for all the people that have come and said
All the ugly things that are in my head
And about the spirit that’s beyond the flesh
It’s the only thing that gets me through this – mess

Oh - I would have never made it this far
I come back to you --
And I -- want to -- thank you --
For that -- special moment - of perfect dis-content
Cause I would have never made it this farrr

I say hey to the dealers and the pimps and the whores
And the preacher man – outside my door
Did you see the man from Amsterdam
Said he be here at my house around 9AM

(Ah?/All?) Yesterday was so messed up
It was all I could do to fill your empty cup
I won’t leave this city till my work is done
And everyone will smile and say to everyone

Oh - I would have never made it this far
(* emphasized * Would have never made it this far)
I come back to you
And I -- want to —thank you –
For that -- special moment - of perfect dis-content

* Instrumentation break *

I come back to you –
Yeah, I want to -- thank you - for that --
Special – moment - of perfect - dis-content
Cause I would have never made it this far
(Yeah, I never would have made it this far)
Oh, I would have never made it this faarrrrrrrr
* Fade Out *

Man Like Me - Track 6

Never is a word you've spoken that I long to hear.
Never gonna leave my side...in my mind rings so clear.
I could love you 'til the end of tomorrow
And never ever set you free.
Think about it now, do you want to love a man like me?

Better is a word I whisper softly in your ear.
Much better than the times before...in my mind rings so clear.
I could love you til the end of tomorrow
And never ever set you free.
Think about it now, do you want to love a man like me?

Time is a word I've spoken, I give to you.
Any time you need me, you know I'll be true.
So you ask you me if I stay for tomorrow?
I'll show you, then you will agree.
Think about it now, do you want to love a man like me?

la la la, la la la la la
(Do you want to love a man like...)
la la la la
la la la...

So you ask you me if I stay for tomorrow?
I'll show you, then you will agree.
Think about it now, do you want to love a man like me?
Think about it now, do you want to love a man like me?

Burning In Hello - Track 9

I'm too young to just want out
but I'm stupid, shy and dumb.
I'm a man and much too proud
To say I don't know out loud.
Tell me darlin' if you're mine.

I'm still waiting on(I'm?) the son of a gun,
Give me one more reason got(not?) to get me some-
Body who would understand, who(you?) know how I felt. Like lovin' you is something like I'm burning in hello.

On an old familiar street, where my friends and me could meet, we could bring our girls along...everybody singing songs. Girl I wanna take you there.

I'm still waiting on(I'm?) the son of a gun,
Give me one more reason got(not?) to get me some-
Body who would understand, who(you?) know how I felt. Like lovin' you is something like I'm burning in hello.

I'm still waiting on(I'm?) the(your) son of a gun,
Give me one more reason got(not?) to get me some-
Body who would understand, who(you?) know how I felt. Like lovin' you is something like I'm burning in hello.

I'm still waiting, I'm still waiting, (etc.) arouuuund!!!

Turn To Grey - Track 10

Amanda Grace - Track 11

I should have listened to your advice.
But I never look behind me, never think twice.
Now I wait for you to whisper in my ear.
Saying how we're only friends
Ain’t what I long to hear.

Good bye Amanda Grace,
Good bye Amanda Grace,
Good bye Amanda Grace,
It’s a drag in second place.

It’s funny how time can change your fate.
Now it seems I’m captain
And you’re my first mate.
But your ship has come and gone.
Now I have to tell you
There’s another in its place.

Good bye Amanda Grace,
Good bye Amanda Grace,
Good bye Amanda Grace,
It’s a drag in second place.

Let me tell you son,
There’s a fool in everyone.
A fool in everyone,
And I’m your smoking gun.

Good bye Amanda Grace,
Good bye Amanda Grace,
Good bye Amanda Grace,
It’s a drag in second place.
It’s a drag in second place.
It’s a drag in second place.

The Ukulele Song - Track 12

It’s not a bird, not a plane,
Just a shirt and tie,
Looking around for his Lois Lane.
And I’d be surprised if he flies you away.
Just take a peak inside,
And let the kryptonite explain

It’s the same old song
That always seems to play.
Everybody get used to it.

Intergalactic workdays and no weekends,
Well that’s the best I’ve got.
My spaceship falling apart from both ends.

It’s the same old song
That always seems to play.
And everybody get used to it.

And we should get married
Today, that’s a strange plan,
And make love all day.
And, we could take turns playing Superman.

So, come and save my planet,
Come and save my planet from me.
Come and save my planet,
Be my girl of mystery.

It’s the same old song
That always seems to play,
Everybody get used to it.

And we should get married
Today, that’s a strange plan,
And Make love all day.
And we could take turns playing Superman.

So, come and save my planet,
Come and save my planet from me.
Come and save my planet,
By my girl of mystery.

So, come and save my planet,
Come and save my planet from me.
Come and save my planet,
Be my girl of mystery.
* ukulele solo fade out *

Well, I got an email from Amazon.com today that said my order has been delayed. Here's the sad part: Delivery estimate: November 21, 2006 - November 30, 2006

Sad Well I hope that means a lot of people pre-ordered it and that they were more important than me. Wink In the mean time I will probably go download if from the online stores and buy it twice I guess. It's worth it. Flower

The good news is I also ordered the Christmas CD so I could hear California Christmas and I think that one has shipped. Yahoo!

First off, I'm sorry that so many of you have to wait so long for your CDs, that stinks, I still am going to order mine off amazon, but am going to wait till I oder my "THe Man Who Killed Love" CD too.

Also, I'm not great with lyrics, but I can try to add some of the lyrics (or what I can distinguish of them) for some of the otehr songs, too.

So far my favorites are Gypsy Queen, What's Wrong, Ukulele Song, and Rodeo (It just makes me smile). But, really all the songs that I'm able to listen to are quite good. I still need to hear the full version of Amanda Grace and Boy Next Door, which I plan on buying tonight, if my money got into the bank on time so I can do that. LOL

OK...a break from lyrics for some commentary.

These two first songs, "Boy Next Door" and "Gypsy Queen", were very compelling live so I was wondering if the recordings would have the same energy.

Yes. They do.

So...these are great tracks to begin the album with. "Boy Next Door" is a clever alt rock song that just hits a sweet spot for his voice.

"Gypsy Queen" is a road trip fantasy. Has anyone else heard this yet? I love it, but am having a hard time describing it. It's rock n' roll, baby!

Very good so far...am loving the new stuff!

Gypsy Queen is one of my favorites. It kinda has a Maroon 5 vibe in some of the insturmentation. And, the voice is kinda distorted in spots giving the song a robotic quality, which enhances the lyrics/plot/song (IMO). And, Jon's voice is much more rock influenced than soul influenced on this song. I really like this song, it has a very distinctive sound to it.

It sure is, Mish.

I'm really starting to love Man From Amsterdam, too! I think it may actually be one of my favorites. I'm trying to transcribe the lyrics, but have to leave out a word (I do believe) LOL But, I'll post the lyrics in a bit if that's ok with everybody?

That would be great, luvs. I'll try to do "What's Wrong" next.

And I am having a hard time picking a favorite among the songs because he has great songs in quite a few genres on the album...including the raher rare "white guy who actually comes across as kinda cool while strumming a ukulele" genre... Devil

Ok, here are the lyrics, to the best of my listening ability, of Man From Amsterdam

Man From Amsterdam

* Instrumentation break *

I come back to you –
Yeah, I want to -- thank you - for that --
Special – moment - of perfect - dis-content
Cause I would have never made it this far
(Yeah, I never would have made it this far)
Oh, I would have never made it this faarrrrrrrr
* Fade Out *

-----------------------------------------------

If anybody sees any errors in that, feel free to correct me...I'm not that great at hearing all lyrics correctly. But, I found that I had this song mostly memorized, so it was pretty easy to type up after about the 4th listen... Cool
