Check out the new song from Jon's upcoming album, "Break the Silence!" "Make You Feel My Love" is an amazing cover of a great Dylan tune. Give it a listen and let us know what you think!
My computer won't be generous more than once a week, and I've never been able to make MySpace songs work on my computer, but I know Val Kilmer will be interested in this as he's a huge Bob Dylan fan, as is Susanna Hoffs and the rest of The Bangles.
I think it's time for me to do some more promoting.
It's a good thing my Ambassador Hat still fits me!
"Make You Feel My Love" made me cry, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. The song is known both as "Make You Feel My Love" and "To Make You Feel My Love." I've always loved Jon's low notes, so that alone makes this song my favorite so far. But Jon also sings it with such passion and emotion! As soon as I heard it, I realized it could so easily cross from mainstream radio to country radio. I'm a happy woman today. This new album will make Jon a star. I can feel it in my bones. My bones don't lie, not even when soaking wet from from my sobbing over a beautiful song.
**************************** California Christmas this year.
More good news. Remember my dear friend Shelli (also known as Serendipity and also known as A Val Gal) from my Val Kilmer's Street Team group? I posted the news about Jon's cover of this song on MySpace and Shelli replied:
****Beautiful, I added it to my profile, thanks!****
My new post is Post #20...not that you could miss me!
****Dear Susanna & Matthew
MikeyLaurence again...I hope you don't mind my asking one more question. My musician friend, Jon Peter Lewis recently recorded a beautiful cover of Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love for his upcoming album Break The Silence (the rest of the songs are JPL originals), and I was wondering if you would be interested in checking out this cover.
Also, I was wondering if this is one of the songs you guys will be covering on Under The Covers 2. Jon's version is already gaining praise and acclaim, even without the album having been released yet. I truly feel this album will make him a star, and as he is a Bangles fan, Susanna, I'm sure he would love to know your feelings about his cover of a song from one of your own favourite artists. Maybe you, Matthew, and Jon could collaborate some day on a project!
Cheers, Mikey****
How's that? It would be great to have Jon collaborate with artists who share his musical interests. Jon's great on his own, but sometimes it's fun to work on projects with others.
Wow, great new song! I like it a thousand times better than Dylan singing it! Don't get me wrong, I think Bob Dylan is a genious and very unique and his voice and song writing have made him to be the legend that he is, but I have to say that this song is so suited to Jon's voice and singing style and he sounds so good singing it that it does bring tears to the eyes! Great job Jon!

OMG That is my favorite Bob Dylan song of all time! I seriously have been trying to get everyone I know to listen to this song ever since the 'Dylan' album was released... I'll have to listen to it some other time though, cuz my computer is being a pain tonight...
Oh thank god! I thought I was just being all PMS'ie hormonal about it. I’m so glad I read all ya'lls other comments. I’m not the only one who got all teary eyed over the song!
If it wasn’t for Jon’s lyric, “I’d go crawlin’ down the aisle for you” to make me crack up (no seriously I laughed out loud) in the middle, I think I would have gone into an out and out lip trembling bawl. I LOVE how he emotes in this song.
I WANT IT FOR MY OWN! How do I get the download? Please don’t tell me I have to wait still. I’ll cry again.
I haven't been able to get Jon's cover song to play on my computer which doesn't get along well with MySpace songs as a rule, but I googled the lyrics for Make You Feel My Love, and it does sound like an awesome song.
I haven't actually listened to a lot of Bob Dylan. Admittedly the majority of my CD collection features predominantly female vocalists/instrumentalists/songwriters, although I do have a few favourite guys like Jon and Val mixed in for good measure.
So, I'm not really familiar with Bob's song catalogue except for a few covers here and there, like Buckets Of Rain which he performed as a duet with Bette Midler, and It's All Over Now Baby Blue which was covered by Susanna Hoffs & Matthew Sweet.

I don't think so much as feeling bad about it but more like in love with and very used to the original version. Or which ever version someone has gotten used to. This song has been covered A LOT, including by Kelly Clarkson.
For me I have heard both versions, Jon's vs Dylan's and I LOVE Jon's far better. But then again I have never really listened to Dylan's version over and over again either. By the time my player gets burnt out on playing JP's version over and over again, I don't think anyone else will ever do it better for me either.

haha...you all crack me up!
i respect Dylan as a great songwriter, of course, and i've known a lot of people who love him, but he's a taste i've never acquired. i heard him live at a show with Van Morrison, and it was even worse hearing him after an hour of Van, whom i adore...lol. i went to YouTube to hear a Dylan version of "Make You Feel My Love" and got through about :30 secs of it. i believe i described it to my hubby as 'like knitting needles were being shoved through my ears and scrambling my brain.' LOL!
that said, keep up the love for Dylan, jolie! i know you have great taste in music and you certainly aren't alone in your admiration for him! i'll add the infamous jon quote here: 'wouldn't it be really boring if we were all the same?'

Now I know that Dylan doesn't have the best singing voice in the world.. And in fact he is an acquired taste, I understand that.. I have grown quite fond of him over the last few years.. Mostly cuz I absolutely love The Traveling Wilburys. One of my favorite Wilburys songs is called "Congratulations" and I would have to say that its Bob Dylan at his best (or close to it)... Growing up in the family I did, I'm surprised it took so long for him to grow on me.. "Make You Feel My Love" has always been my favorite of his songs, and I do like Jon's cover of it, but it doesn't compare to the original IMO.. To me saying that Jon's cover is better than the original is to say that Cheap Trick's cover of Magical Mystery Tour is better than The Beatles original.. It's apples and oranges, while I like both, I will always favor the original.. In fact the only one of Dylan's songs that I feel the cover can hold a candle to the original is Jimi Hendrix's cover of "All Along The Watchtower".
LoL, something I just found out today in fact is that originally Jimi Hendrix did not want to cover "All Along The Watchtower". Stating that he felt he could not do the song justice in comparison to Dylan's original version. Go figure.
