I have only seen a small part of it. I wanted to watch it but have missed it most of the time, not knowing when it was on, not home, etc. So when I did watch part of it, I was confused as to what was going on. What is the "Gold Star" all about? I see that it gets awarded to a kid each week and is worth something. Is it actually made of gold and that is what you get or is it a symbol of the money that you were awarded. I wasn't sure. The kids seemed a little stressed.

I am totally addicted to this show. It's on Wednesdays at 8 on NBC.
The Gold Star is made of solid gold and worth $20,000. One kid earns this gold star every 3 days (or each week for us). The counsel members vote on which kid out of the entire town has earned the star based on attitude and work done around the camp and criteria like that. The counsel is made up of one kid from each team. There are 4 teams.
The kids are making a town with the help of a "journal" from the previous "residents" of the town who had to abandon the town many year ago. Basically this is an old "ghost town" and the kids are making it work. There are different "classes" and the kids compete every few days to decide which "team" gets which class. Upper Class earn the most money and do the least work, merchant class is second class and earn a little less, cooks are third and earn less, and then the working class is lowest and does the most work and earns the least (only 10 cents a week). The merchant class runs the "saloon" and the general store and the cooks actually make all the meals.
I think some of these kids are amazing. Some are lazy and annoying. Either way I am addicted to it.

So I saw something when I watched, where they can go home if they want? Are they ever "voted out"?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.. It's about learning to dance in the rain."
They have a town meeting every three days where they award the gold star and the "host" of the show, the only adult the kids have contact with (minus the camera people), asks the town if anyone wants to go home. So far two kids have gone home: one because he was only 8 and really missed home and the second because he missed his friends (and girlfriend) too much to stay, he was 9 or 10. Every other time no one has gone home. And no, they are never voted out.

True there are adults there but they don't control anything in the town or anything the kids do. It's all up to them.
There is this one Asian kid with one large front tooth, he is amazingly articulate and smart for a 9 year old.

Amen, to your signature. We need to be still and listen to God's still small voice! I'm responding to your signature because I like; it very true. No I haven't seen the show (or heard of it) is it an American show?

They have had that happen I guess. There were many legal issues to work out before they were even going to air that show. I think there were a few kids who got hurt, not sure what happened. But the parents had to sign contracts that held the network harmless if anything happened (including death). Meaning, the parents signed over their kids to be totally on their own with no adult intervention should anything happen. I'd like to think that is death where a possibility that adults would step in, but likely it never came to that, just cuts and bruises and sprained ankles and for that they were on their own.

Thanks. I have to remind myself on a daily basis to be still and let God undo the knots. It's hard to do though.
