yes it was on after Idol! it was tried before but didn't get the good rateings. so they put it on after Idol and look what happened it is a smash hit!!
I haven't watched House this year, but I watched most of last year's episodes. I think it has some very good aspects. The surly attending physician who has an encyclopedic knowledge of medicine may be a stereotype, but only because a fair number of them exist. However, most of them sow their surliness rather randomly among medical students and residents rather than patients. He has some interesting diagnoses on the team, but there are some inaccuracies. First of all, he does a lot of what we call "shotgunning". That is, he doesn't know what the problem is, and orders a myriad of tests, rather than trying to order tests judiciously to rule in or rule out certain disorders. I would use a much more measured approach that is more scientific. Also, he asks his residents to do things that are illegal. Never in all my years of teaching at the university have I asked or been asked to go to a patients' house to search for clues to the diagnosis. You might ask an epidemiologist to look for clues, but it's pretty darn illegal for residents to do it. Plus, they've got fifteen other patients to take care of and can't go running all over town investigating one. And my third complaint is that every patient has a seizure. Haha! Now I know that seizures are rather dramatic and make much more interesting watching than looking at a patient lying in a bed with oxygen on his or her nose, but they're a lot less common.
In short, I think House is a good show, with some shortcomings. Actually, Grey's Anatomy is a much more realistic look at medicine, although it isn't perfect either. I wish I could get a job as a medical consultant for these shows.......
You should send them your resume and your above analysis.
I remember the episode when a resident went into a patient's home to look for clues. I thought that was questionable too.
And didn't they resusitate a DNR?

Yes, they did resuscitate a person who was DNR. However, if I remember correctly, House was convinced that the patient did not have a terminal illness, and felt the DNR was inappropriate. That is not a farfetched story line, unfortunately. My husband had a patient with a lung disease called ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome). The disease is triggered by all sorts of random things and has about a 50% mortality rate. However, that means that 50% of the people who get it survive. His patient was very sick and on the respirator. Her husband kept trying to insist that they take her off the respirator, saying she would not want to be on a breathing machine, even though he had been told she had a fair chance of recovering. My husband chose to ignore his wishes to become a widower, which is lucky, because the woman survived. I don't know if she is still married. Doctor's have to respect the wishes of the family, unless it seems as if the family is making a very poor choice, as above.

It's just a show! no one ever said it was real. no one said that we think that is how it really happens. It is just a show!
Just got done watching! It was a good one! not as good as last week but we did learn a bit about House and Lisa i think that is her name. any way all and all good show!
Thanks for the reminder. It was always easier to remember when it followed AI. I'm really bad about keeping track of when shows are on. It's a great show!
it was a good one!! but i am getting kind of sick of the same story line over and over. the person comes in they are sick they don't want to do what he says he makes them they get better. BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

Same here, haha. I'd stay at my uncles house to watch it until the first commercial...then my aunt would speed over to my house to drop me off and her to get home before the commercials ended.
Yes, we are a close family. lmbo
John Mayer // Elton John // Idols 08 // Daughtry // Jonas Brothers // Rascal Flatts
I just like watching it because it never fails to remind me of Callster. If her or I were ever doctors, we'd be just like him. That's probably not a good thing in one perspective, but we would save people.
things are getting really good! you should so watch! Chase is in trouble for killing some one. and Omar's charicter i can't remember his name for some reason any way he is now the boss of House!! oh yeah this is good.
