Did'ja see it? I did. Uh...what da heck was that? I am only hoping that the CGI'd characters were more impressive looking in 3d. I'm just not sure why you would want to take all the detailed expressions off of Anthony Hopkins face. They had a good cast for the show. I say just CGI Beowulf a set of killer six-pack abs and call it a day.
Also, the writing for the film was off too. Good story that could have been complex and interesting, but, like the graphics, they stripped away all the finer details and it was mostly cartoony.
Hi Mish! Didn't see the film, because I can't stand that type of animation,(and I know nothing of the story!) but I saw some clips of it during an interview with Anthony Hopkins. As to the six-pack for Ray Winstone who played the lead, I'm afraid he'd need more work than that! I preferred him in his younger days in Robin of Sherwood.
Ha...it's funny that this film was so big, but no one seems to have seen it. And yeah, they could have picked a better Beowulf for my taste, too. Ray did fine, but it was just sort of nothing spectacular.
All in all, I'd suggest you save your money for candy canes!
BTW - What did Anthony Hopkins have to say about it?
It was a few weeks ago now, I'm afraid. All I remember was him talking about how strange it was to be acting with little dots all over his face, and talking in general about this type of animation, with the implications it could have of not needing the actors in future.
Personally, they can keep this sort of animation and give us the real people any day!
Ha...the studios are greedy and just wishing they can ditch actors...lol. If Beowulf is the best they can pull off, I think the actors guilds are safe for a while
