Hi! Ted and I could use a bit of help if anybody has a moment.

Ted enjoys building stuff out of wood. He especially enjoys wooden toys. He actually has a place to sell them now, but he's not sure what to charge. Would you guys be willing to take a look and tell me your ideas?

The first toy looks like this, only it has a snake head and markings. Unfortunately, Ted took his snakes to work today, so I just have some other pictures of similar toys he made:

The second toy is one he's designing right now. It's a turtle puzzle. He has the shell made, but hasn't finished yet. So far it looks like this:

So.... how much would you pay for these turtles and snakes?

Wow... cool stuff! That turtle shell looks so elaborate!

I'm not really in the market for toys like this, so I'm not sure how much I'd pay. If I were selling, I might expect to be able to sell the rolly snake around $20 minimum and the turtle around $40 minimum. Double if I were customizing (i.e. painted names, etc). Somewhat depends on where you're selling, also. I've seen people pay ridiculously exorbitant prices (like $80-$150 for a u-bend hair pin) at large craft festivals where artisans expect to move a lot of items in exchange for their table reserve fee... these toys would be more like $50 and $140 min there.

I was gonna say about $15-20 on the snake.. And about $30-35 on the turtle, however, after it was finished I might have increased that...

Those are really cool. I don't know how to price them, really. If you price them too high, they may not sell well, but you don't want to give them away either.

When I was a kid my dad made us a wooden doll cradle. I loved it.

Procured some pictures of the snake.

Ted's idea is to model the snakes after snakes at the Nature Center, and then put their names on the bellies kind of like the Thomas trains.

I really like the snake. Looks like it would be fun to drag around and reshape. I am not in the market for toys, but I think the $15-$25 range is about right for hand made wood toys. I can't wait to see the turtle when its done.
