"WOW" doesn't even describe that! She is the epitome of "dumb blond". Wow....wow....wow....really really bad!

Question - "Recent polls have shown a fifth of American's can't located the US on a World Map. Why do you think this is?"

Answer - "I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq everywhere like such as and I believe they should our education over here in the US should help the US or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian counties so we will be able to build up our future for our children."

OMG! That poor girl. You guys do know that in order to make it that far in a pageant like "Miss Teen USA" you have to be pretty smart. To choke that badly in front of the country, OMG. Wow. How do you recover from something like that?

The perfect example of how to pull off "I just got owned on global TV".

Only Miss USA could have done it that well

Falling on that slick stage with high heels is one thing and doesn't reflect on the intelligence of the individual, but to utter such nonsense...there is no recovery from that! Poor girl indeed!

^I would be mortified.

In regards to the question, I woulda said something along the lines of 1/5 of the population isnt educated on the subject of geography. I know thats degrading the country... and I'd probly be voted off the show for it... but thats the best thing I can come up with.

Well here is something else I found and now I really do feel bad for her, that was a nose dive, end all be all, choke!

I wanted to know who won after I saw that questions and answers thing. I live in Oklahoma and after Laruen Nelson took this year’s Miss American title (she is from my town) everyone was looking towards the next pageant winner from our town, “Miss Teen Oklahoma ”, to take home the “Miss Teen USA” crown. From what I saw, she didn’t even make the top 10.

Anyway I watched the full clip of the Q&A portion and again she choked big time! But if you watch the first minute, you'll see that the "host guy” (sorry don't know his name) really didn't help. I think they felt bad for her too and gave her the place that they did.

Wow what a way to start the show!

Yeah she was the third runner up... So maybe they felt bad for her.. My sister and I were watching it (cuz there was nothing else on).. And when she finished her answer... I looked at my sister who had the same 'astonished' look on her face as me, and I was like "Ummm I don't think she answered her question" and my sister was like "That's what I was thinking, she was asked why people in the United States can't find the United States on the map and she talked about South Africa. When she should have said that schools don't really teach your how to find things on a map, I mean they do go over it in class when you are younger, but it is not on any of the standardized testing."

But then the girl who came in fourth runner-up, her answer was just as bad.. I mean she didn't babble on like that, but she question was from Melissa Joan Hart, and it was "At what time do you think you move from being a child to an adult?" and the girl's answer was like "When you know right from wrong, without your parents help." To which point I again looked at my sister and said "So according to her your son is an adult?" he just turned 8 and knows the difference from right and wrong without having to be told, and knows that he will have to suffer the concequences if he chooses wrong...

Thanks Gidget. I really could not remember his name for the life of me.

And Jolie I know what you mean. Miss Colorado was the only one who even answered the full question she was asked. Even Miss New Jersey got to excited and forgot to answer the second part of her question. Which made it that much more sad when she got all excited at the end. Besides all but the final question were just odd.

I keep finding stuff on youtube today over this. In fact that 40 second answer is the most viewed thing on youtube today. I hope her head really is filled with saw dust now, then maybe she won't realize everyone is making fun of her and she'll just think she is popular.

Funny video response to Miss South Carolina's Answer

I found another that made me laugh REALLY hard called "What the Buck?" But alas he has to use bad language so yeah... enjoy the one from Paperlilies though! Flower

Great job transcribing Gidget! lol

I'm thinking about creating a non-profit organization to supply all US Americans with maps! hahaha..

All joking aside.. it is hard to believe that a fifth of Americans can't locate the US on a world map. My answer as to why this is .. I think those that are not familiar with US or World Geography probably didn't have enough interest in it to really learn it while in school. If one fifth are not properly educated in Geography, that means that four fifths are. And if you look at our public school system, you will probably see that one in five students don't really care about their education, nor do they live in a home with parents that make sure their children are doing well in school and doing their part in their child's education. I am not trying to put down our public schools, because I think the education (good or bad) is there and available to all that want it, but you really can't force people to learn.

No, I don't want that to seem like a canned answer for a beauty pageant, it's just my feelings on why the statement could be true.

Speaking of tripping and getting boo'd.. I feel bad for Miss USA.. This link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oem4U41j-cw is to an interview with her where she talks about the fall on stage and mostly about the booing by the Mexico City audience. She showed a lot of class in how she handled the booing, both during the pageant and in interviews afterward.

I like her. Proud to have her representing this country. Anne Curry on the other hand....I hate her interview style. It has always driven me nuts.
