Hey everyone... I just put my first day of rehearsals on Godspell here in Redlands, CA under my belt. With the thought of putting a production together in 2 and-a-half weeks I went into rehearsals yesterday feeling beyond overwhelmed. There's a ton of dialogue and dancing and I'm not much of a dancer... Plus, I was worried about the cast--you never know about these things. But, after last night I feel supremely conifident with the abilities of the cast to do a fantastic job, and the script and music is coming quickly to me. I think it'll be a great show. i hope all of you in the LA area can make it. I put a couple pictures up and I'll be putting up pictures periodically. Plus...there are a ton of pictures we'll be putting up shortly from a lot of my recent activities...
I bet it will be a great show! I'd love to see it but .. don't think I can get away then. Best wishes for a great production!

Thanks for stopping by, Jon, and filling us in. And thanks for making me chuckle over this line: "I'm not much of a dancer." True, you may not be a highly trained dancer, but you can dance quite well. It's little wonder the dialogue is coming to you quickly since it is pretty much straight out of the gospel of Matthew. You ought to be familiar with that.
Are you getting into character with the "peace" sign-of? The movie version of Godspell was teaming with hippies. Plus you are playing Jesus. So either way, the "peace" works.
Of all the things you have done, this is the one I would most like to see since it combines so many different art forms--singing, acting, and dancing, but unfortunately, I don't have any other reason to be in Redlands in September. Guess I'll just have to sit here in the East and feel sorry for myself and everyone else who doesn't get to see this.
**************************** California Christmas this year.
Just wanted to make a little addendum... What I meant by being worried about the cast is that sometimes you never know what type of personality you're gonna run into or how quickly they're gonna respond to the material...no arrogance about it...just fear of the unknown.
That is totally understandable Jon.. I'm sure this will be a great experience for you and for all involved.
And by the way .. I think your dancing is great! Cut loose and have fun with it! That is when you are at your best.

I know how that is with not knowing how the cast is going to come along.. I didn't think you were being arrogant at all in that statement.. There's always a chance someone will not be willing to work with someone else...
Congratulations and good luck from me too Jon! Maybe there'll be a talent scout from Hollywood in the audience at Godspell who'll whisk you away to become a movie star!
You have the looks, talent, charisma, personality, and passion to really make it in movies as well as music, TV, and the stage.
