10/30/2007: Jon included in Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul Book
Jon has written a chapter called "Pens, Anyone?" for the top-selling book Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul. The book is slated to be available in stores and online starting the first week in November. Read what Jon has to say in the section entitled "I Gotta Be Me: Stories of Staying True to Yourself."
The release date of this book has been yet to be confirmed. Many places have said it's out already, others say it's out the first week of November, and then there has also been reports stating it's out in December. However, there has been full stories (Only Melinda's, Jordin's, and Sanjaya's - No JPL's yet!) released to fanbases, so I dont expect it to be in December.
I'll let you know when it's released as soon as I hear! I can't wait!

I bought it today... I bought it at Wal~Mart on my way out... It was $12.64.
Jon's story is about how he grew up around music and then about his audition and exit on AI....
It was really funny... I'm just gonna say:
Jon, I'm glad you decided to wear your church clothes to the audition, instead of your other choices... (although it might have been interesting if you had warn either one of the other ones)...
Oh and the website gets a shout out in the contributors section...
Apparently, some of the idols did not write their own essays in this book; some just spoke on the phone to one of the editors. I don't know whether Jon personally wrote his entry or not, but there were things in it that made me think something was going on not of Jon's making. This would be a good question for someone to ask him sometime: "Did you personally write your entry, or did someone else write it up for you?"
You can read about the process of producing the book on the American Idol Forum, but here is a small quote from Marne, who is a copy writer for americanidol.com and who interviewed one of the authors:
"As co-author Debra Poneman explains,'When you see the obstacles that these Idols have to overcome to become who they are today, it really will give everybody hope that they can achieve their own dreams. And that's the purpose of this book.' Debra sat down with each contestant either in person or by phone and discovered one story of inspiration from their lives, either before, during, or after their 'Idol' experience. Fans of the show also submitted stories, as well as the cast and crew, and each account was more moving than the next. Some of the Idols were convinced that they didn't have a story of inspiration but, sure enough, after chatting with Debra about their lives, something would occur to them about a person or an event that really moved them. Some of the Idols even wrote their own stories."

Looks as if I got quoted on the American Idol news page. I should charge them! LOL I at least should have said something more gushing about Jon. Oh well. Here is the quote:
"I read Mandisa's contribution online, and it was really moving. She discusses how she forgave Simon for his comments on her weight. Her example of forgiveness is one of the genuinely shining moments on the show. On the other end of the spectrum, Jon Peter Lewis has a contribution that is reportedly funny and light-hearted. So the book contains a wide range of pieces to suit any mood or taste. "artslvr

I quote artslvr all the time. She gives me a discount.

I'd love to read anything written by Jon as he is very inspirational and profound, but with a delightfully cheeky sense of humour that I have always loved.
