Hey Guys

The fabulous
Lucy Lawless (star of
Xena: Warrior Princess and emerging concert musician) has another wonderful surprise for fans with the release of her third concert DVD -
Lucy Lawless Live In Chicago: Still Got The Blues.

Firstly I must lament that I am losing my psychic mojo or something, usually I am much more up-to-date with news of my favourite artists, but this one kind of sneaked up on me. I think I need to spend more time with my crystal ball...or perhaps I should get the goldfish out of there first!

Here are the details:
http://www.creationent.com/iwwidb.pvx?;multi_item_submitHere are the songs that Lucy performs:
1. Tell Mama
2. Feeling All Right
3. Shakey Ground
4. I Smell A Rat
5. Fooled Around And Fell In Love
6. Will You Still Love Me
7. Heaven Down Here
8. True Colors
9. You're So Vain
10. Get Down On It
11. Let It Whip (*with Renee O'Connor)
12. River Deep, Mountain High
13. Piece Of My Heart
14. Delta Dawn
15. People Got To Be Free
16. I'll Stand By You Of course,
Renee O'Connor who played both
Gabrielle, The Battling Bard Of Poteidea, AND her villainous offspring
Hope, Daughter Of Dahak is always a delight to see and hear, and especially when she performs songs and dances with Lucy. Lucy also performed
Let It Whip on a CD single released earlier in the year which also featured a duet with
RuPaul entitled
Come To Me.

Unless I'm losing my marbles again and can't remember back past the time I last had breakfast (when was that again...),

I'm pretty sure
River Deep, Mountain High was performed in an ensemble with
Jon Peter Lewis and the other AI3 contestants back in 2004.

The last cover I heard of
Carly Simon's You're So Vain was
Anna Waronker and
Ze Malibu Kids awesome version.
Delta Dawn is a cover of a song I have enjoyed by other singers, most notably
Bette Midler, whose signature tune (or at least one of her signature tunes anyway)
Do You Want To Dance was also performed by Lucy in one of her concert DVD's. Another recent awesome cover of a Bette song is
Val Kilmer's I Think It's Gonna Rain - and anyone who covers a Bette tune and sounds as fabulous as Lucy and Val are tops in my opinion.

It makes me wish I could sing, but there aren't enough tomatoes in the world for that...
People Got To Be Free is the awesome finale song from the second Xena musical episode
Lyre Lyre, Hearts On Fire in which
Lucy Lawless,
Renee O'Connor,
Gillian Iliana Waters,
Ted Raimi (playing dual roles as
Joxer and his rather flamboyant brother
Jace),
Darien Takle, and an ensemble cast of Amazons and gold lame-clad dancer boys show the world that there is no place in this world for prejudice and bigotry - against people of other races and religions, against gay people, or against women, or anyone. It is a message we should all wholeheartedly embrace and it will be great to hear Lucy's solo version in this concert.

The episode is also famous for one of my favourite lines from the entire series, just after Xena has defeated the warlord
Draco (Jay Laga'aia) and his goons during the rock concert, Jace tells Xena that the fans demand an encore just as she is tying up the villains.

Xena's classic response delivered in her inimitable style...
"Thanks, I'd love to but I'm fresh out of asses to kick".
Reminds me of another funny line said by
Polly Baigent who plays one of three rabid Xena fans in a spoof episode of the show entitled
Send In The Clones.
"I bet Xena could kick Jackie Chan's ass. Jet Li - no contest. If Bruce Lee were to come back from the grave, I bet Xena would kick his ass too!"
Cheers, Mikey
