1: so jon, what'd ya do for halloween and who'd you dress up as? 2: have ya seen (or even heard of) final fantasy VII: advent children? (vincent was staring at me, so that's why i asked that) 3: i miss the curls!
Hey, well sorry about the curls...I was tired of putting crap in my hair and trying to maintain it. I don't know how girls, or guys I guess, do it.
I was babysitting for my brother on halloween but we had a visitor....it was really bizzare of all nights a bat chose halloween to come and hang out above my door. I didn't think it was real, I thought it might be a joke by my bro, so i went to poke it with a broomstick...then it bared it's fangs at me and I decided to leave it alone.
I really been looking at headlines about new video games, but I've been playing FFX and X-2 a lot lately
Sorry folks, jon continues to be unable to sustain a solid internet connection. It looks like we'll have to wrap up for the day and bring him back to answer your questions at a later date.
In a gesture of our appreciation, we'd like to offer those members who have stuck it out a free gift, so everyone whose name I see online right now is eligible for a new JPL sticker.
RESCHEDULED CHAT on Saturday, 11/19/05 at 10am PST
Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel, only this time Jon will get to answer more than 3 questions...lol. Be here this Saturday for Part 2 of the November chat with with Jon
Are there any plans to A) send your Xmas song to US radio B) get your Xmas song on an US compilation Xmas CD?
What's your latest video game obsession?
yep I'm going to send it to radio here in the states....hey, fell free to request it at your local radio...They may not have it but if they hear about it...that couldn't hurt
1) Last time I asked you if why you cut your hair… are you letting it grow out now or are still cutting it or are planning to keep it short? (I miss your curls!)
2) Are you going to have your song “Beautiful Girl” on your album? I saw a video clip of it from Spud Fest and fell in love with it!
3) Are you planning on doing any type of concert thing somewhere near LA or in Southern California? (I would absolutely love to see you perform your songs!)
I was tired of the taking care of long hair...I don't know how girls do it...
I'll probably work on that song for the record...to be honest I haven't touched it or even thought about it, since that performance.
Yeah, I plan on doing a lot of shows in the near future. You can count on me playing in LA
Hey Jon, thanks for comming on and talking to us! what is your favorite things about the holidays, and what is your favorite thing to do for your birthday?
...I thought this might be a good question to answer and apologize with. Thank you being here...I'm really sorry it's taken me so long to chat.
1) Would you consider touring in Australia where I live, as I would love to see one of your shows, but I can't quite make it to America just yet.
2) I've just been to a fabulous concert by The Bangles who have recently toured Australia, and I was wondering if you might also be a Bangles fan. I know you're a Beatles fan, and so are The Bangles, which is why I thought you might like The Bangles as well. I LOVE The Bangles!
3) Are you a Catwoman fan, and if so, who is your favourite live action version: Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry. Also who is your favourite animated version: Adrienne Barbeau or Gina Gershon?
4) I think you also once said you were a He-Man fan as a kid, and I was wondering if you were still a fan of He-Man and if you also knew of and liked his twin sister She-Ra's show? Also, have you seen the live action movie with Dolph Lundgren or the New Animated Series? Did you know that there is going to be a new live action He-Man movie with another J. Lewis (Jason Lewis)?
so last week I had a really great response for these questions when the internet connection crapped out. I guess here's a summary
Australia, yes! I'd love to come, and I hope to get there soon.
I’m doing a debate, for my college public speaking class, on how shows like American Idol affect the music industry. If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to ask you a few questions to use, as “supporting data”, for part of my debate.
My questions are….
What do you think the influence of shows like American Idol, Nashville Star, Rock Star: (INXS), and other like shows have on the music industry? And, do you feel that this influence is good or bad for the music industry?
Also, as an artist who got your start on American Idol, do you feel that shows like American Idol help artist with talent break into the industry, or do you feel that shows like American Idol are too commercial and compromise the “integrity” of the music industry?
Finally, if you had it all to do over again, would you go through the American Idol process, in order to get your start in the music industry, or would you go about it some other way?
that's a loaded question, um I don't think I can answer all of it here, so I may have to get back to you
Hi Jon. How is your family? What do they think about "It's Christmas"? It's such a great song, I really enjoy listening to it. Good job!
How did you like being a judge? Anything you'd like to share about that?
Edited at a later date to add: Can you tell us about the "Adopt a Minefield" event you attended recently?
Thanks,
Paula
glad you like the christmas tune...I think a lot of credit needs to go to James Collins who has been working tirelessly over the last couple months to make things happen for it. It was his idea to even write the thing...so we sat in a toronto hotel room in july and pounded it out...and because of him it'll hit radio and was placed on the NOW compilation. So, if you get a chance, let him know too how much you like the song.
The benefit was amazing! There were a lot of interesting people there and the performances were really great. Tony Bennett played just before Paul and I didn't even know he was still alive let alone performing. He was really, really good. His band was soooo tight.
plus, I should add, that there are a lot of innocent people dying in the world from old landmine fields. I'm glad I was able to become more aware and of the problem and take part in an organization that is trying to solve the problem
Hi Jon. I'm loving It's Christmas, so that's what my question concerns. Do you play acoustic guitar on the recording and, if not, who did? I'm betting it was you, so don't disappoint me!
1. In a recent interview you said that AI is more of a commercial experience than an artistic one and that subsequently it can be difficult to convert yourself into--or just continue to be--an artist afterward. You appear to have a special set of challenges that go beyond overcoming the AI "stigma". You are creating music--and an image really--that's quite different from what you presented on the show. Has it been challenging to present "Jon Peter Lewis, singer/songwriter" to record execs--and even the general public--who might only be familiar with the entertainer they saw on American Idol?.
2. In your video clip "the past year" you talk about what your life has been like since you left the show. You describe the experience as "hard" but that you learned "a lot of realities and where the road blocks come from" but that "It's been a great pleasure to work through them and to come out on the other side." Can you talk more specifically about some of the things you've learned through this process and what it's meant for you? I'm insprired when people grow through adversity and I dig hearing their stories. I'm sorta corny like that.
I think it's challanging no matter where you come from. Idol or not, there are problems and stigmas and whatever else for everyone. But you can't worry about all that. So far, I've found a lot of ways how not go about this business. I only need one right way, and I'm positive it's there. that's all I need to know.
...you want a specific case of adversity...let me think about that
As far as you can divulge, what is your gameplan for the next year and what efforts are you making toward widespread distribution of music in the States?
