Jon decided that instead of writing journal entries he'd rather answer your questions online! So feel free to ask him any questions you may have and he'll do his best to answer as many of them as time allows.
Use the "Questions for Jon" thread to ask your questions and he'll answer here so that it's easier for everyone to read his responses.
I know we are all excited for your EP to come out. What, if anything, can you tell us about it at this point?
Purle chaps...definately!
There isn't much to tell about the EP. I'm sitting down with the producer this weekend to start some pre-production notes. We should have it all wrapped up and mastered in a few weeks. Then...well, there's a lot of other junk to take care of.
Jon-What's up. Congratulations on everything you got going on. I am a friend of your brother's (Christian) from Cross Lanes. My name is Chan Roush, we used to play some soccer with you when you were a bit younger. Anyway just checking stuff out and thought I would give you a shout. Chan
Whoa! Me and Christian were just talking about you the other day....great to hear from you! I remember once I was a sideline ref for one of your games...and it was the worst mistake the officials ever made. I don't think I got a single call right. Anyway...I'd send you my # but, well, uh, this isn't the most secure place on the planet to be giving out that info...give my bro a call and we can catch up.
Not in form of a question but have to say when you first hit the limelight with A.I., It's your originality that impressed me and hoping that you continue the way you are and with your music telling a story is entertaining. So to get blunt: I'm glad that your continuing in the business with your own material and looking forward to your CD coming out shortly. Was I too serious Also knew you'd go for Taylor Hicks, great things will come from him too.
Thanks a bunch! I'm a little scared for taylor, though. I think he might be turning out to be a one-trick pony...
Jon, It's sad to say I didn't even know about his website until I read about you in Entertainment Weekly. I was so happy to catch up with what youre doing...didn't realize how much I much I missed that cute smile. Are you turning red? Just wanted you to know that I'm glad to see that you are continuing with your singing career and not settling for what other people think you should be singing. Stay true to yourself ... you are loved! I will definitely be looking for your next live performances in Cali. (subliminal...backstage pass, backstage pass)
haha. I'm not so sure there are any backstages at these little clubs I've been playing...I'm sure if you come we'll get a chance to hang out. thanks for checking out the site.
well, soon. I don't really have an answer. I'm going into the studio of friday for some more recording...I'll be finishing it up then. I'd say realistically a month tops.
Hey Jon, I'm new on here but I had to get on here to tell you that I had a dream about you last night for some reason, anyway...it was weird. You and I were hanging out and you gave me your phone number and told me to call and then, because you had written it on a napkin, it blew away! Anyways, I couldn't believe I had a dream about you out of the blue. I haven't heard much about you until I saw the article in EW. By the way, my name's Sarah. I have a 4 year old daughter that watched you when she was only 2 and she knew all the songs you sang on American Idol (they were downloaded to my computer) and to this day when she hears Rocket Man, she yells out "ROCKET MAN, JON PETER!"
That's cute about your little girl...I have four little nieces that I love a lot and I can totally relate to that kind of story. I've had to ban them from calling me "JPL". My life has changed since Idol in so many ways it would be hard to explain here...I mean an experience like that is full of defining moments. Plus, I mean, the obvious things are are career and social settings...
Hello Jon. I hope you can answer something for me that has been bothering me for a few days. I am a huge Simon Dawes fan; I really really love that band. Anyhow, a friend of mine, knowing this, bought me the EPs when we saw them live and also sent me a song via MSN that he believed to be by Simon Dawes. I listened to it and indeed confirmed that I thought it was them, but it wasn't on either of my EPs and couldn't find any earlier discography either. So I googled the lyrics to the chorus and found your site and indeed, the song was the same (albeit some slight lyric changes). I searched and got your MySpace, and saw that you too are a Simon Dawes fan (by the way, great choices for influences!) and heard the song on your MySpace, but it's different. The version I have is definitely Simon Dawes, or at the very least, Taylor Goldsmith is singing it. He has a distinctive ring to his voice, as do you, and they're clearly different. Anyhow, this post is probably longer than it really needed to be. If you could clear this mystery up for me I'd be very grateful. I was curious as to who is the original singer of the song and who wrote it and all that, because I like it quite a bit.
Thanks for your time!
Kayci
(Oops, I forgot to specify, that song is called Stories from Hollywood
I'm sure blake and taylor will be glad to know someone has their original disc "stories from hollywood." I've known Blake since he was born and after Idol he and Taylor came to me and said that they thought "stories" would work for me and that they didn't plan on using it. So, It was one of the first songs I recorded.... But, yes it is a Simon Dawes song. They wrote it when they were 17 and still in high school. Blake is playing guitar on that song and Taylor is singing back-ups....a little trivia for you.
I don't have cable...I guess fox isn't cable...but I still didn't get a chance to see all the performances. People, of course, did send me video links of Chris's ALLC and Taylor's jailhouse rock. And, they sent me Elliots "trouble". I thougt Elliot was great, but then again I'm a little biased on the other two.
I thought Taylor did a great job with Jailhouse Rock but yours was better. And as far as your performance of A Little Less Conversation, I don't think anyone can top that so they shouldn't even try. Even Nigel compared Chris to you in a radio interview and said yours was better.
Sorry I just love that name. Ok, so the question of the day is, When's the EP due out? However, I want to ask you about you. How are you? I know you're busy, but how are you, really? Tired? Anxious? Sometimes we forget you're just a regular guy trying to be Superman and I just wanted to ask you a regular question!!
God Bless!!
Thanks a lot! I'm really REALLY busy. This is the first day I've really had to myself in about a month. Lot's of little details to work out with the record release. I don't want to bore you with the details....I know people have been waiting forever for something from me, but I still can't give out a definate day. You all have waited this long (and thanks for the patience!)....what's a few more days....? ....months? ....Years .....eons? .....eternities?
Hi Jon, my name is Kim, I was just visiting my old college roomate and we were talking about how we went to the American Idol concert in Pittsburgh to see you and we had this huge sign that said Jon Peter Lewis let's hang out!! We were just checking out the website to see what you are up to now and I thought I'd write you and see if you remember us sitting in the second row with our big ridiculous sign??
No, but big ridiculous signs are cool. Thanks for that. And next time I'm in pittsburg, we should hang out. My bass player is from Pittsburg and I'm sure we'll be passing through there.
hello there Mr Jon i have to tell ya that you are very good at your music keep up the good work and hope to see you in person sometime soon here in bakersfield thanks your fan Jim
Man, that's a great question....I'm starting to think that Paris Hilton and I DO have somthing in common...we just finished recording all of it and I'm working on the artwork and distribution. It looks like it'll be mid-summer. It'll be worth the wait, though.
